The Story of the Isle of Man

I love this book, it is easy to read well written explains the connection to the Norse of the Isle of Man. The Author takes the reader through the history and explains some of the mythology which pertains to the Isle of Man and their historical connection to the Kings and Earls. I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in the history of the Manx, Norse Mythology. Kindle Edition.

good book

This is a reprint of an elementary school textbook printed in 1902. While it is (obviously) easy to read and informative, some of the pages never got copied and are therefore missing from the book. Overall, though, a good overview of the history of the Isle of Man from pre-history to 1900.

Written as a school textbook for Manx students, it is very easy to read (although the English is slightly dated), informative without being overloaded with facts, and a very useful starting point for anyone with an interest in The Isle Of Man.

It was a great read, but I would have liked it to be much longer.

Very informative

It read like a lecture from a favoured old tutor. Full of facts on the later history of the Isle of Man but was not as detailed on the Viking era. I figure it was written in the late 1800s but read easily enough. Liked it.

Best known for motorcycle racing, the isle of Man has a far bigger story to tell and this little book is a very good place to start.

Most of the book is extracts/facsimiles of other publication/records rather than a written history. Although interesting I shall be looking for an alternative

I am Manx, and I wanted to know about the history of the island. It was very enlightening.About the beginning of the island. And how the three legs came about. I have a tattoo on my arm of the three legs.Thank you.
