This was superb, surprises and twists to keep you reading. I could not put this down. Great writing and big, you won't forget characters.

So as I looked back over my notes that I made whilst reading this book they mainly stem around Leah’s character and my absolute detest for her. Was we meant to hate her? I hope we were because she was an absolute whiney nightmare. If I was Brooke and she was my sister I’d have left her for dust years back. Absolutely no way would she have been in my life to suck all my remaining good energy out of it. Anyhow, this book flowed well and drew me in straight away. None of the characters are particularly likeable to be honest but Leah is the worst as I have said above. There wasn’t much of a twist really and I’d say it was all quite predictable but it was still a really gripping read.

3.5 stars. First time reading Lisa Jackson and I was entertained by this popcorn thriller, however if fell off the mark slightly to make it a really sold 4 stars purely on pacing alone as 2/3s of the book was on the slower side story wise, I would have preferred it to be slightly faster paced. Brooke has a teenage daughter, a husband and a sister with a complicated history. She's also having an affair with a man she doesn't really know well. Since she lost her job and found out her husband had been having an affair Brooke just needed a bit of excitement in her life and Gideon was a means to an end. When Brooke decides to break it off with Gideon and giver her marriage and her family a proper 2nd chance, Gideon turns to dark obsession and vows never to let her go. in this reverse 'Fatal Attraction' type scenario, the stakes are high and intentions are deadly. I enjoyed the book, however due to slow pacing it didn't grip my attention as much as I would have preferred. The characters were complicated with good back stories and I loved that they were all so 'grey' in nature - those are always the best! Execution was simplistic - but popcorn thrillers usually are so I don't really have an issue with it. The mind games were my favourite aspect of the book. Sometimes a good old fashioned cat and mouse story is all it takes!

Normally I love this author but not this time. I think it is because not a single one of the characters is remotely likeable. I ended up skimming through to see what happened which is not like me at all

Brooke who while separated from her husband has an affair with Gideon, when she decides to end the affair Gideon has other ideas. This a quick easy read with a few twists and turns although much of it was fairly predictable, I enjoyed the story line but thought the ending was a little rushed that being said it is an ok read.

Brooke Harmon has been having an affair with Gideon Ross but she wants to end their affair and when she tells him he says he’ll kill for what he wants. Then she starts receiving messages from an unknown number on the burner phone she uses only for Gideon. Is it him or has he passed her number to someone else? I had high hopes for ‘Our Little Secret’ as I like Lisa Jackson’s style of writing and although it started off well it quickly went downhill with characters who were quite frankly horrible and totally unbelievable. The plot was absurd in places, such as when Brooke’s husband orders a pizza and who should deliver it but Gideon! I so wanted to enjoy this novel but it was so predictable that I skipped chapters so I could get to the final conclusion which was abrupt and a fitting end to a novel that I didn’t enjoy at all. Sorry!

Vorweg: dieser Thriller hält einen am Ball. Lisa Jackson beherrscht das Einmaleins der wohldosierten Spannung. Ähnlich routiniert spult sie aber auch die klassischen Elemente des Genres ab: ob obsessiv stalkender Ex-Lover, ein verlorenes Schmuckstück, das immer wieder auftaucht, anonyme Anrufe mit rätselhaften Botschaften, versteckte Kameras, ein Finale im verlassenen, schneeumtosten Haus ( wo komischerweise gleichzeitig sowohl der Strom als auch der Handy-Akku ausfällt)..alles schon zig-fach gelesen oder gesehen. Dazu eine weibliche Hauptfigur, die mit bewundernswerter Geduld alle auf sich herumtrampeln lässt - an vorderster Stelle ihre boshafte Schwester und ihre vorlaute pubertierende Tochter. Verwirrend für Leser ist auch, dass in der ersten Hälfte der Geschichte ein Handlungsbogen um das Verschwinden zweier Mädchen gespannt, dann aber nicht zu Ende geführt wird. Kurz gesagt : am Anfang liest man dauernd darüber, dann gar nicht mehr. Da stellt sich dann schon die Frage, warum es überhaupt eingeführt wurde. Mal ganz nett für verregnete Sonntage, aber zu vorhersehbar, um einen vom Hocker zu hauen.

This was a very great mystery book! I absolutely love this author and she never fails to disappoint! You will be surprised at the whole book! She keeps you guessing and it’s hard to put down!

Very good book. Left me on the seat of my chair the whole time. Definitely worth the read.

Talk about a game of cat and mouse. This story was suspenseful. Some not entirely unexpected but still a riveting thriller.
