A good, affordable SATA SSD from a formerly good brand.
At the time that I purchased the BX500 SATA SSD, it was quite literally the lowest-priced 4 TB SATA SSD available. Which is really unfortunate since Micron decided that AI datacenters are what they truly want to support and 4 TB SSDs of all stripes and creeds are now close to $1,000 per unit! It's bad because this was actually a really affordable and quite fast SSD, useful for file transfers and as an alternative to an external hard drive or SSD when paired with one of Sabrent's drive docking adapters. Because it's an SSD, there's no risk of crashed disk platters or stuck heads like you have with hard disk drives and no noise since it's a non-mechanical storage device (which can be said for ANY brand of SSD, really). I'm not certain if the BX500 uses TLC or QLC NAND flash memory, so I can't give it a proper score as to lifespan or data retentivity, but I feel fairly confident that this drive will be reliable in the long term. It IS Crucial by Micron, after all. They were known for reliable and affordable drives, and memory kits, too. If Micron were still making these under their Crucial brand, I'd be recommending this SSD. It's fast, affordable and from a known brand that makes decent and reliable memory products.

It's cheap. It's slow. It works. ๐
TLDR; It is cheaper comparing to other brands. It is slow because it DRAM-less. It works for my needs. I got it as a secondary drive to store media files until I have time to work on them, so it works exactly as I am expecting it to work. You need to understand that it is DRAM-less drive and it means two things. First, if you plan to write to it a lot and often you will get throttled ... sometimes to as low as 20Mb/s. Second, it will wear down faster than DRAM SSD because it will have no idea how often areas were written to, so some blocks will wear out much sooner than others ... that is why TBW for it is only 1000. If I were you, I would not use it as OS drive or drive where you write a lot and often, but if you need it as a secondary storage to store files until you have time to work on them, it is perfect.

Fantastic SSD, horrible cloning software.
I've been a longtime fan of Crucial memory products, so trying this SSD out to give my old P920 some new life was a no-brainer. It's a fantastic SSD, with excellent capacity and performance., The executive software that allows you to tweak various performance characteristics of the drive is great - make sure to download it from the Crucial site when you have it installed. Regrettably, my enthusiasm does not extend to Crucial's recommendation of the Acronis software for cloning your boot drive. It simply did not work for me. I was moving a 5 TB drive to the 4 TB drive. Only 1.1 TB of the original hard drive was in use, so it should have been no problem. But the Acronis software couldn't handle it - it said there wasn't enough room on the 4 TB Crucial drive to store the 1.1 TB of stuff from my HD! What's worse is that it took about 4 hours for the Acronis software to decide it couldn't do what I wanted. I was able to use the free utility, DiskGenius, to clone the drive. It worked great, cloning all the partitions, including the rescue partition, adjusting them proportionally. If you have trouble with Acronis, give this a try.

Over $400 DOWN THE DRAIN!!!!!!!!!
First, I apologize for giving this one star. Amazon won't let me post a review unless it has at least one star, and I REALLY want to post this review! I bought one drive, and it SEEMED to work fine. I don't trust SSD disks because they tend to degrade with use(But THESE were supposedly NEW, AND SHOULD LAST MORE THAN A FEW WEEKS), so I decided to get another like it, to backup my result on the first drive, just in case. It showed trouble since day one, but I decided to try to improve things, and I got the WHOLE thing to work! All seemed to be going fine! One day, I found that the second drive came up BLANK! It was as if NOTHING was on it! I even tried it with another bay, and it did NOT work. So that disk is BAD! NOW, I am trying to back it up to an HDD. I noticed that some directories took a LONG time to come up, on the source SSD, that SEEMED good, which was weird. I am now on my third day of running a backup. It is file based, and so one day, though still SLOW, was reasonable. THREE is LUDICROUS! The last estimate was that it would take 2410 days!!!!!! That is almost SEVEN YEARS! Luckily, this is sporadic, so sometimes it DOES run fast, and sometimes it is ABSURDLY slow, so I am STILL trying. At one point yesterday it said I had only 3 HOURS to go, and it was over half way done. Anyway, long story short, I am not buying any such disk from amazon again, and if I decide to get the next one from crucial(DIRECT FROM THAT COMPANY), they better hope I notice NO problems, or I will write them off as a supplier, and INSIST that they give me a refund. BTW I did all this to consolidate all of my stuff. The info was written ONCE simply to delete dups, and organize things, and it took up less than HALF the disk! So far, every drive I have seen like this has several chips that store the information. Maybe they simply got a bad batch of chips, but they should have tested them. The amount of data written to the 4TB drive was only about 1.8TB!

Great Budget SSD From a Trusted Name. Great Option For 2nd Media Drive.
As the title states, this is a solid budget-tier SSD from a well known and trusted brand. There are many off-brand Chinese SSDs on here that boast similar or lower price, but I absolutely would not trust them with my data. Keep in mind this is a budget SSD. Write speeds will be very slow for large or numerous file copying onto the drive. However read speeds are fine. This is a great SSD to use as a dedicated media drive where the drive will mostly be read from. This may not be a good choice for a primary boot drive that will have many file write operations happening. Keep that in mind and use this drive as it's intended and you should be good.

Great Value
I'm trying to do way too much on my old laptop. There never seems to be enough storage. This drive is an excellent value. There are a few of things you should know. 1. The recommended software didn't work for me. I had to find something else that could handle 4TB. 2. Even with alternate software you You can't set this drive up as a single partition. You'll need to go into disk management to set up the last 2 TB as a functional drive. This is not an issue with the drive itself, but as I understand it, the Windows operating system. Windows has a 2 TB limit without some special help. In the past drives I've purchased came with all the software you might need. This one did not. That is why I only rated it at 4 stars.

Affordable and Reliable 4TB Storage Solution
I recently purchased the Crucial BX500 4TB SSD and wanted to share my experience so far. Hereโs a breakdown of its performance and features: Performance Although Iโm not sure how to measure the exact read/write speeds, the drive has performed excellently in terms of loading times and file transfers for my needs. It feels fast enough to handle everything I do without any noticeable delays, whether itโs loading games or moving large video files. Installation and Setup The installation process was straightforward. The drive came with all the necessary cables. I did format the drive during setup, which was quick and easy, and everything has been running smoothly since. Reliability Iโve had no issues with reliability so far. The drive has worked perfectly, and Iโve received positive feedback from more tech-savvy friends who recommend the Crucial brand. Iโm confident in its performance. Build Quality The physical build of the drive is solid. It fits neatly into my PC case, and Iโve noticed no overheating issues, even when Iโm running games and streaming simultaneously. It stays cool under load, which is a big plus for me. Value for Money At the price point, the 4TB capacity is a fantastic deal. Compared to other brands, this drive is more affordable while still offering great performance and reliability. For anyone looking to expand their storage, this is an excellent choice. Overall Impression I highly recommend the Crucial BX500 4TB SSD for anyone looking to boost their storage capacity. Even if you donโt think youโll need 4TB, Crucial offers other sizes that can fit a variety of needs. Whether you're a gamer, content creator, or just need more space, this drive offers great value for the price.

Speedy drive, speedy delivery.
Talk about fast delivery - Ordered at about 2pm Thursday, in the pickup box and waiting for collection before 8:30 the next morning, and installed in my PC in less than 20 hours from purchase. Much happier load times for my games now that they are on this SSD instead of the 8 year old HDD it replaced. A win for me all round, what more could you ask for?
