A good summary of the basics
This book is a useful stepping-stone to Patent It Yourself, which covers the same material but in greater depth.Start with Patents for Beginners but buy both.Even using both I anticipate that I will still need to hire a DC based patent attorney, but these two books have provided me with a solid understanding of the patent application process and are invaluable references.
