I read the reviews and bought the 6 pack of these sponges because I generally prefer a hard scrub when showering to really exfoliate dead skin cells. I was very happy with my purchase initially, these sponges were exactly what I was looking for. A bit too rough at first use, but they got a bit softer over time and I loved how clean and invigorated my skin felt. Since I had the 6 pack I was slowly working my way through each sponge with no complaints, that is until my little sister came to stay with me. She had seen the sponge in the shower and I had been gushing about how great it was. She loves a good scrub as well so I gave her one of my last remaining sponges as a parting gift. We live in different cities and don't see each other often, so it wasn't until a few months later that I found out what had happened to her when I saw her again and noticed a long scar from the middle of her shin to the top of her ankle. Her response? "Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you! I got back from my trip ready to take a long shower with that new sponge you gave me. At first I felt a kind of sharp scratching on my upper thigh, but didn't think much of it, but when I went to wash my lower leg I could feel the skin tearing as I moved the sponge down. I looked down and my shin was bleeding and after feeling around in the sponge I found a small NEEDLE in the sponge!" She said she had meant to take pictures and things for proof, but she'd been caught up with school and work and had forgotten to. I naturally felt TERRIBLE since she's my baby sister and I had been the one who gave her the sponge in the first place. I also felt a need to write about this so that others who have purchased before (or intend to do so) know to CHECK YOUR SPONGES before use. I don't know if this was a fluke, a bad batch, or what, but I suggest you take precaution. Luckily, her cut was just on her leg, but imagine if this had happened on her neck, chest, or God forbid face (although, generally, these sponges are too rough for face use regardless). NOT OKAY.

I'm giving four stars because the product is as advertised and is well made. I've used it daily for a couple of weeks with no deterioration where others began to fall apart after just a few uses, so it's a great value. The only reason I didn't give five stars is that the exfoliating surface is quite rough. I'm using it only on tougher parts of the body such as arms and legs; it's just too rough for more delicate skin. If they could reduce the roughness just a bit, it would definitely get five stars from me.

This is a really harsh scrub, not for the faint of heart if your skin is sensitive. It's made from small plastic loops to create the outside scrub and the inside is a nice firm sponge. They last 6+ months of intense usage, probably more if you don't use it everyday. These don't hold onto dirt or skin, so the chances of bacteria or anything else staying in it is low. I scrub down with it every day, and it really takes a lot of dead skin off even when using it so often. I had a lot of acne problems since high-school, and had lots of left over scaring from having outbreaks so often. I've been scrubbing down with these for maybe 2-ish years and the outbreaks have almost completely disappeared. Even the scaring has been almost fixed since I started exfoliating with these, I can barely tell I had any to begin with. Really the best scrub I have ever used, I'm starting to buy extras to stock-pile them just to be sure to have them if they ever discontinue.

Way to abrasive on the skin, probably because it's plastic on the outside. Hurts to scrub body. Won't buy again

I really liked this product. It feels a little rough at first but it definetly makes my skin feel softer and less bumpy.

Oh yeah.Hard one, was looking for this kind of sponge.It’s hard, but after like a while you get used to it. Took me like 4 showers to get used to.But man, after you take a shower with this sponge, you feel so good. My skin relaxed and feels super clean.If you are too sensitive, don’t buy it.Only if you had experience with exfoliating products and you wish more exfoliating results, take this one.
