Tested it at home and also accidentally when pulling my keys out of my pocket and the alarm is seriously loud. It activates instantly when you pull the pin and definitely grabs attention. The sound is strong enough that it would surely scare someone off if needed. Thankfully I have not had to test it in a real situation, but it gives a lot of reassurance when carrying it on your keys. Simple to use, good quality and a really handy little safety gadget. Very pleased with it.

I've never bought personal protection before (stop sniggering, I mean an alarm, not a prophylactic !). So I wasn't sure what to look for. I wanted one that I could recharge, so I didn't have to go hunting around for special CS145 (or whatever the other ones use) batteries, or for it to use AAA batteries that go flat too quickly. I also wanted one that I could attach to a rucksack, and would work if I yanked it off, but wasn't too easy to accidentally trigger. This one fits the bill perfectly. The little pull-tag is attached to the chain, and clicks into the main body really snugly. It takes a little force to pull them apart, but they go together again easily. The shape makes it easy to find the fit and re-connect. But the best part is that it doesn't come off /too/ easily. When you pull it apart, the thing makes an awful screeching alarm sound, and there's a little twinkly LED that flashes on and off. The noise of the thing is immense at close range, and left my ears ringing at arms length. If someone was attacking me, and I clapped this onto their ears, they'd be in serious (and I do mean SERIOUS) pain. The flashy LED might be nice for the night-time, but it all but useless in the day. In a darkened alley it would make it easier for people to spot where you are and come to your aid, though, so that's how I assumed you'd use it. I was surprised when it said it would "disorient" an attacker. mmmm.. maybe if you shoved it right in front of their eyes in a darkened alley, it'd blind them enough for you to insert your foot into their privates and give it toes... All in all, it's a great little device. Works well, makes a lot of noise, and charges quickly.

Light&Loud...fit for purpose

Great little alarm. Easily attached to bag or belt or carried in pocket. Nice loud alarm & flashing bright light. I shall feel much safer carrying g this as I feel it would attract attention when needed & deter any potential street thief/mugger.

Really loud. Can be muffled with one hand, but then again if they’re one hand short that’s a massive advantage already. Put it up to their ear for damage even flex seal can’t fix. All you need to do is pull it out like a grenade to activate it and pop it back in to deactivate, nice and easy for accidents, not as easy for an assailant. Comes with two sturdy ways to attach to yourself or whichever item you are carrying, and the alarm itself is incredibly sturdy with a very nice-feeling exterior, almost like velvet. Beautiful colour and build. Highly recommended; I feel much more confident walking from work to the bus stop/home at night. Goes hand in hand with screaming and acting crazy to ward them off. Don’t be afraid of doing it, if you feel like you’re at risk, you must defend yourself by any means necessary. Better to look like a fool and be wrong, than to be shy and become another number or a gravestone.

Really loud noisy little thing despite its more than a modest size

This is a great personal alarm. I love this colour as it stands out in my bag, is compact and Usb charged so no batteries. I am happy with the price and the way it works. I did remove the pin to test it and the alarm was very loud with a very bright light which I guess is the point. You can attach it to your key ring however I prefer not to.

Der Taschenalarm ist schön kompakt und passt problemlos in jede Tasche oder an den Schlüsselbund. Dadurch hat man ihn immer griffbereit, wenn man ihn braucht. Besonders beeindruckend ist die Lautstärke von 130 dB – der Alarm ist wirklich extrem laut und fällt sofort auf. Die Bedienung ist einfach und schnell, was im Ernstfall wichtig ist. Für mich ein gutes Gefühl von mehr Sicherheit im Alltag.
