Easy to set up
Good design matches our Sony Bravia tv and was easy to link the two products together. Sound quality is good.

Crisp, detailed sound. Amazing surround sound!
im a huge fan of the sound quality of SONYS headphones and they clearly know how to work with sound so I was stupidly excited to put to the test the new Sony BRAVIA Theatre Bar 8 soundbar! Now Iโll be honest, I did hit a few snags with the set-up.. largely because I assumed ARC IN on the soundbar is where youd plug in the HDMI lead because it says โARC INโ Apparently not and you plug it into the HDMI OUT socket. Slightly confusing. You use the other if you want it as a pass through (like a sky box or console)Set up then relies on your phone. Download the app and follow the instructions. Here I had yet another issue where it would get stuck in a loop when attempting to get connected to my WIFI. Passwords were all correct but it took 4 tries before it decided to work, strange but we finally got there. The phone then ran through some calibrations and thats when I first got a taste of the Spatial Sound Mapping which is pretty damn impressive. My current set up is with another well known multi-room connect brand (beginning with S and ending in S) and I have two rears and a sub. Im a strong believer that nothing can replace actually having physical speakers behind you for true immersion.10 minutes with this system though and Iโm not entirely convinced anymore. The Spatial Sound Mapping throws sounds behind, above and around you very effectively. Both myself and a friend just looked at each other and smiled in amazement. It truly does sound great. The range of sounds that I can hear now blow my previous soundbar out of the waterโฆ everything from small detailed sound effects, the booming explosions to perfectly clear vocals. It all sounds great!Switching back to my surround system it does sound slightly better purely because I have a sub and two rear speakers sounding off around me and the Sony soundbar cant quite compete with that, and understandably soโฆ You can however add rears and a sub separately which would equate to possibly the greatest home sound system you could possibly have, but it would cost a pretty penny too and I havent been lucky enough to be graced with the sub and rear speakers to test *cough* Sony? *cough*.If youre planning on having a set up with just a soundbar you cant get much better than this insanely impressive system which uses what can only be described as magic to throw its sound around the room. SONY is the master at sound technology and continues to push the boundaries of what's possible with every release.

Superb to of the range sound bar
First of all, In not a sound system expert by any stretch of the imagination but this system from Sony simply blew me away in every department.I've been using it for a few weeks now, and it has significantly enhanced my home entertainment experience. Here's why I love it:The BRAVIA Theatre Bar 8 offers an unparalleled surround sound experience. The 360 Spatial Sound Mapping creates phantom speakers all around you, making you feel like you're in the middle of the action. Put any of the latest action movies like Top Gun Maverick on and just immerse yourself in the experience! With Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, it brings authentic cinema sound right into your living room. This soundbar is best paired with a BRAVIA TV though it worked just fine with mySetting up the soundbar was simple enough. Itโs ready to go straight out of the boxโjust plug it in, connect it to your TV with the included HDMI eARC cable, and power it on. The Sony | BRAVIA Connect app allows you to control the soundbar from your smartphone. As I already have a Sony account this was extra easy to do.This isn't just for movies; it delivers music as the artists intended. High-Res Audio ensures superior sound quality, while 360 Reality Audio(app required) offers an immersive music experience. Additionally, DSEE Extreme upscales every track, making your music sound better than ever.Overall, this sound bar has exceeded my expectations in every way and is a huge improvement over my albeit older Samsung bar with Its exceptional sound quality and ease of use. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to elevate their home audio experience to the next level.

Best sound quality
Another amazing product from Sony. An extra subwoofer is required for that extra bass pinch to make sound system complete.

Amazing sound quality
The sound from this sound bar, as you would expect, is amazing. Setting up the sound bar is a simple process, first unbox it from it's 100% recyclable packaging, then just plug it in to the mains and plug in the supplied HDMI cable to your TV on one of the HDMI Arc sockets, mine was on HDMI2 where I had previously had my laptop connected. The soundbar has an HDMI input, so my laptop is now connected through there and my TV doesn't notice that there's any difference, working perfectly.Next thing to do is to download the Sony Bravia app to complete the setup of the soundbar and also to use as a remote control for it. The app setup was simple and it immediately found the soundbar and continued with the setup. holding my phone in various ways so it could set the speakers to their optimum for where I was sitting.I have the soundbar connected up to my LG TV through the HDMI Arc and the sound is so much better than the TV speakers alone. Setting the voice mode makes voices so much easier to hear, crisp and sharp and right in the place the sound should be coming from in the room. Somehow, even though I am only using the soundbar, sounds can even come from behind me. Sometimes, when the soundbar is in standby, my TV reverts back to the internal speakers until the soundbar wakes up, this can be up to 30 seconds, maybe this isn't an issue with Bravia TVs.Plugging in my Xbox X to the TV, takes the sound to the next level with no noticeable delay in sound at all. The soundbar has excellent sound quality across the range and 3 bass settings and setting it to max, the bass is really punchy.

Make some room
First off the size of this thing is really big. I was a bit surprised you are going to need a large TV unit to hold the length and width of this and the tv.It looks so sleek and modern feel kinda posh haha. The sound from this sound bar excelled my expectations.Setting up the sound bar was alot easier than i expected as im not a techy person. You just have plug it in to the mains and plug in the included HDMI cable to your TV in one of the available HDMI slots. You then need to download the Sony Bravia app to complete the setup of the soundbar and also to use as a remote control for it.The app found the soundbar strait away with no problems the connection was instant and strong.I have a toshiba TV andnit works fine with it. What a difference the soundbar makes rather than just speakers alone. Its so surpising how the sound travels around the whole.room and sometimes even feels like the sound is comeing from behind you.The sound quality is magnificent and like been at the cinema however I also feel most of the time it's very unnessacery and for normal tv viewing I don't have it switched on kind of save it for when we are having a movie night otherwise when talking you feel like your shouting over the top of it.

It's ok but I was expecting better performance for the price
This Sony Bar 8 has good support for audio format and it does have a good enough dialogue clarity, it will sound better than tv built-in speakers especially compared to the sound of not top-of-the-range TVs. Issues are with the expectations for the price, the Soundstage is not wide enough, the soundstage is unsatisfying. The Dolby Atmos rendition feels a bit small, especially in height. The built-in subs only go down to around 50Hz, which probably is ok for the size of the bar but not for my money. The Center Channel rendition is good. Surround effect is below average, not that great. It will work better as part of an expanded system with dedicated satellite speakers and dedicated sub-woofer but that means going towards an overall higher cost. The Sound bar 8, on its own, I find it underwhelming for the price.
