Derek Fallon gets the chance of a lifetime―to participate in a gaming company focus group and to test out a new video game called "Arctic Ninja." Together with his friends Carly, Matt, and Umberto, Derek thinks his gaming talents will be showcased. But he soon realizes that everyone has got him beat, including whiz kid El Cid. On top of that, school reading tests have begun and Derek feels doubly off his game. Isn't there anything he's good at? Find out in this hilarious middle-grade novel with cartoon illustrations. From Janet Tashjian, with illustrations by Jake Tashjian, comes another delightful standalone volume in the popular My Life series. Praise for the My Life series : “Another fun, emotionally resonant read for the Wimpy Kid set and beyond.” ― Kirkus Reviews on My Life as a Stuntboy “A fast-moving plot and relatable protagonist make this stand-alone sequel a good choice for boys who, like Derek, would rather reach for a TV remote or game controller than a book.” ― School Library Journal on My Life as a Stuntboy “This is a great package for kids, especially those like Derek who don't think they like to read.” ― Booklist on My Life as a Stuntboy More in the My Life series : My Life as a Book My Life as a Stuntboy My Life as a Cartoonist My Life as a Joke My Life as a Gamer My Life as a Ninja Review: Fun! - My 9 year old has really enjoyed this book. Sometimes getting a boy who loves his video games to read can sometimes be a bit of a challenge. This book has really captured my son’s attention. Review: Amazing - I love the book I've read the whole series and I hope I get to see Derek again soon. It's a little too short but I think that is because I read it constantly. The most surprising thing about this series is that it is the 1 and only series that is better than a dairy of a wimpy kid.

It was a good read but was not the best of the series
My fourth grader enjoys reading it. This is a great book for (3rd, 4th, 5th, & 6th graders). Print is as always large and as usual few new vocabulary introduced in the book, and stick figures drawing on the side of each page. I would say if you are new to this series start with the first book. Anyway, without giving away too much plot I was say nothing major happens with the Monkey or the Dog, and I think most fans of the book wants to know more about the pets. I wish this book had more story line that reflects on dog's health, but it didn't. Derek is having fun with his new adventure each Saturdays, and he learns an important lesson on keeping secrets and important of keeping information confidential especially if signed and agreed upon it. His mom is still busy working next door at her clinic and dad is home a lot. IT was a good read, and the only reason I didn't give five stars because the story could have developed more on the suspense on who leaked the information from the gaming company, or on Derek's dad's job hunt, etc. I hope there will be more books coming in this series.

Great book
My 8 year old loves this book and is already asking for the other books in the series. They are pretty well written and enjoyable - think Diary of a Wimpy Kid for the way it reads and is laid out.
