For Whom the Bell Trolls: Hands of the Highmage, Book 1 Paperback – Import, 15 March 2016

I had problems getting my last review published so I hope I have better results with this one. Being on D.H. Aire's beta reading list I had the opportunity to read this some time ago but yet I bought it today because I so enjoy the series. If you have read any of the Highmage books your will recognize these characters and wish the book was twice as long. Many questions are answered and much insight is given as to why things are happening as they are and allot of the back story is finally starting to be filled in officially.Another home run for D.H. Aire and you won't be disappointed

Props for an original story. The book has several story lines. Some pop up in the beginning, like the secondson and his imposter, never to be seen again. Some pop up a few times, and one appears for awhile and is then gone. Most of the book follows one story line about the girls and the trolls. And while I don't have a problem with that, it's a bit aggravating that none of the story lines are resolved before the end of the book.Keep in mind this is a fantasy and suspension of belief is required. There are a few "say what?" moments.My big issue is lack of proofreading or editing. I had to go back a few times to determine what just happened. There are missing words, gratuitous words, words that don't make sense in context, places where you can lose track of who's talking, and once a main character's name was incorrect. So this slows you down and takes you out of the story while you're trying to figure it out.And finally, the author believes in showing rather than telling which is usually a good thing. However, I was wishing for just a bit of telling to help connect the world building dots.So bottom line, it's an original, unfinished story that will require a little effort on your part. It was interesting enough to keep me from jumping to the end, and I would like to know what eventually happens to everyone.
