Top shelf tool
I was an electrician in a former life (haven't worked in the field in over 10 years) and used a bunch of Greenlee tools in a professional capacity, including crimpers and hydraulic knockout sets.I bought this tool to crimp 4/0 cable for a battery plant installation. I had originally planned to buy one of the cheaper hammer operated units but wanted a tighter crimp and knew this was the only way to get it.The tool is labeled "made in Germany" and the quality shows. It is extremely well made, has a very solid feel during actuation, and the resulting crimp is perfect. The rotating dies are marked with both the gauge and the industry-standard color code (4/0 is purple, for example) and lock in place nicely. The dies also emboss a number into the resulting crimp that matches the gauge of the die.

Aside from that its a cool tool. It leaves a stamp of the AWG ...
The sizing is off. When I crimp a 6 AWG terminal it leaves wings on the side which is an indication that the terminal is over crimped. Aside from that its a cool tool. It leaves a stamp of the AWG size on the terminal you're crimping and the dies are interchangeable. This crimping tool is also very well made and very durable.

Excellent steel
Awesome construction and extra thick plates of real steel. I had to return because the the description is misleading regarding "Crimps all the popular small to mid-range copper connector sizes." I found the tool will crimp only the terminals it was designed to crimp, an industrial standard style. For making battery cables using lugs of not-so standard construction, these hexagonal dies may or may not crimp correctly. At $5 a lug, I decided to not try it and get a FTZ crimper that allows adjustments. The FTZ is a no where near the construction quality of the Greenlee, but does allow mix and match of dies.

Purchased these to rebuild the battery cables on my diesel truck . The action is smooth , easily adjustable with color coded sizing , good leverage . Worth every penny .

This is by far the best crimping tool for large gauge lugs. Does an excellent quality hex crimp. The dies in the head easily rotate. Plus, it's made in Germany!
