Expensive, but I'm very happy with the purchase. Poles are well made
First and foremost, the poles are more expensive than I wanted to spend. But they are well made and staying dry is worth the cost. I go camping in the mountains each year for a week. The volatile weather has brought too many thunderstorms that have flooded our tents. We've tried several techniques, but this time I decided to try a quality tarp and poles. Of course now that I bought these poles there wasn't a thunderstorm on this trip, but it held up great against the rain and I am confident would have not had an issue with a thunderstorm. The negatives besides the price, is that the steaks and string is more invasive to our camp than I had hoped. As a result the strings should be a bright color to be more easily seen. I'll replace that for our next trip which is unfortunate as the poles already were expensive. The locking was great. I had no issues and was able to adjust the poles too different sizes to control where I want the rain runoff to flow. The tarp is a heavy one and with the rain, the poles did not falter at all. So I'm happy with it. The rubber caps made it very easy to keep the poles locked onto the corners of the tarp which tremendously helped with the setup. Also, the rubber caps help to keep the poles grounded reducing concern about lightning. The aluminum is well coated to protect from weather and is light weight, but the metal does have some bend. Just had to make sure I angled the poles so that any bend won't impact. When packing up, the poles folded easily and was simple to put away. I wasn't sure how many poles to purchase - 2 or 4. I thought about trying two and running rope between the two poles and draping the tarp over it creating a "A" style slope, but saw that would struggle keeping the poles secure from sagging and protecting the tent. So I felt the 4 corners was the best technique with angling to control the runoff. This made the structure strong with less sag potential. Again, the cost is a lot. But you get what you pay for and having the added security of a dry tent is worth it for me.

Good quality for setting up rain tarps
These poles worked great at our campsite this past weekend. We had an entire day of rain and if we didn't have them we would have been stuck in our small camper all day. They are definitely durable and well made. The only issue of quality I ran into were the guide lines. They began fraying within hours of being set up. Be prepared to invest in some of your own. The twist and adjust was a useful feature. I'm glad I bought the longer ones that allowed plenty of height for our larger tarp. I would not recommend trying to take these backpacking, they are too big and heavy for that kind of use. Overall, I'm very happy and think these will last a lifetime.

Good adjustability and size.
These poles area great addition to our tarp set up. The poles that came with the trap are not adjustable so limits the possibilities for set ups. Use them with the other poles or by themselves depending on the preferred set up. They tighten easily with a little twist and release with opposite twist. Have not loosened up and keep tight in winds. The rubber caps allow to use them directly to the trap or remove caps to place through the eyelets of the trap. Bag is sufficient for storage and while packing. Lighter than the poles that came with the trap and the extended length is enough for high clearance underneath the tarp. Picture shows one on the ground and the other on the table, third pole was original with the tarp. The pole in the middle held tightly in place with the rubber caps without ropes. Really like my decision to purchase these, makes the trap more versatile. Have used them for running a clothes line to hang sleeping bags on to air out and held the weight of 2 bags. Recommend these poles.

Great poles and great customer service! BUT!
Heavy duty poles that did exactly what I needed! When they first arrived, one pole wouldn't lock into place past 6 feet long. When I reached out to customer service and sent them a video of it, they responded quickly and sent me a replacement. I just used them for a week-long camping trip in the western NC mountains. During this trip, my campground was hit by a couple of massive rainstorms-- I mean rain so heavy that you couldn't see five feet in front of you, with a lot of wind that came with it. These poles stayed upright and kept my tarp from flying away and my tent from getting soaked. The paracord ties and stakes that came with them are also heavy duty, and the poles don't seem like they're easy to scratch. They're easy to use-- I didn't need a second person to help put them up, and the rubber endcaps were great for protecting my rainfly from getting holes in it. The only reason I don't give it five stars is because water got inside the poles and it took a good amount of time to extend and contract the poles to let it leak out, and I'm still not sure I got all of it out. I'm hoping it doesn't rust from the inside out but at this point in time they seem like sturdy, heavy duty poles that I would get again.

No trees, no problem
Our favorite campsite is lakeside with very little trees to tie tarps to. We like the pop-up canopies cause they get the job done and are easy to setup and take down but they weigh like 50 pounds! 8 of these poles and a couple of tarps weigh less combined and pack better into a crammed vehicle. These poles were a game changer when setting up rainfly/shade tarps for our camping trip. My only regret is that I didn’t have an extra pair! 8 poles and a tree got the job done for a lightweight 17x10 tarp and a cheaper (heavier) 15x19 tarp. I got the larger heavier one up and stable with only 3 poles but could have made it even stronger with 2 more! Kept us shaded and dry for the whole week outside! Pros: -Unlimited customization from site to site -8 ft tall at max extension -Light-weight and smallish packing. -Strong if you set up the guy-lines properly -includes rubber chess pawn toppers to protect tarps from tears -Includes guy-lines and stakes! Cons: -They retain water so be prepared to drain and allow them to dry once you get home. Final thoughts: Although these are super easy to use, they really shine if you know what you’re doing. Make sure everything is tight and that you’re getting equal opposing tension on each pole. You can get by with one guy line per pole, but two makes things a lot more stable. If you aren’t experienced with doing a setup like this, I highly recommend one or two helpers to hold them in place while you make adjustments. These are aluminum. Dents in the poles will compromise their strength so be careful when setting up. If one falls and lands on a rock it might be cooked. Great product. 5 stars.

Initial impressions
This is the review of my initial opening and home tests of the products itself. Not with use of any tarps yet. It looks clean and professional. I was impressed with the initial quality of the poles and how good they felt and how well the twist lock was working. I extended the poles to their full extent and twist locked them as shown in manual provided. I'm 6'4" 245lb and I would consider at least country strong. Once I extended the polls and locked them, I grabbed each end as far as I could reach and tried to pull it back together and it did not slip or slide and I was quite impressed by that. The little silicone piece that kind of looks like a pawn piece to a chess set. The silicone seems nice annd sturdy The rope provided seemed good enough and had a nice reflective weave through it. The stakes provided seem like just two big nails with a little plastic piece at the top to give you something to tie to. Those will be fine enough for my uses. Overall, I'm impressed and do not have buyer's remorse. I look forward to using them in the field with my tent setups or car camping setups. I'll update review upon field tests.

Perfect for clothesline
I used these for a clothesline. These are AWESOME. I immediately wanted to order 4 more because of all the uses I dreamed up. Super sturdy, seem durable, held up in 40mph winds with the guy lines propertly staked. Excellent purchase.

As Advertised
Used to make diy tarp canopy on cargo trailer conversion. Strong heavy duty light weight poles, easy to adjust, caps on top keeps poles in grommets and guy lines included work with attachments points. Couldn't be more pleased.
