Best piece of IT kit I have ever had
This has been one of the best bits of kit I have ever invested in. I have had it for nearly two years now and it has never gone down. It is easy to set up, even if you are not particularly geeky with computers, and the front end software on the computer is easy to use. It is not overly noisy, though you do hear it a little when it is backing up. The apps which allow access on phone or tablet are also easy to set up and as long as you have secure passwords it will give a great deal of pleasure. I love the fact that I can access all my photos when away from home and share them with friends or family, and that I can listen to my music remotely. A lovely piece of kit that does not look out of place under the telly.

Pretty good so far...
So I bought a 2 bay version of this as a backup drive for my work, which is spread between mac o/s and windows. Both these o/s's are terrible at reading/writing onto X formatted hard drives, so I wanted something that I could use easily with both.I have both computers and the NAS plugged into a cheap Gb router (which in turn is connected to my main router), and so far it's worked very well. I have mine running 2 x 2TB Seagate Ironwolf drives in RAID 1, which seems to be the default setup of the Synology. The setup process is a little involved but the online guide(s) were reasonably well worded and clear enough that I didn't hit any massive snags - I'm decently competent with computers but have zero experience of networking. I think if you're experience of hard drives so far has been "plug it in and go" then you'd struggle... But once it's setup with your systems it's simple to use. I've no idea what it's online capabilities are like - it's no something I plan on using.Seems a good product though, but only if you really need it. In reality for me a WD cloud drive probably would've been fine.

Good backup, but not without its challenges
Good, although because it uses its own format different to recover unless you buy another synology. Once up and running it worked well. Has problems recovering bad sectors on the disk. Had to end up reformatting using a PC, which should not have been the case. Lucky there is lots of information on how to do this. Makes you wonder why they have not fixed this as such a common problem.

Synology - the best. Simples.
Synology NAS drives are awesome. This is my 2nd one. It's a little underpowered in the CPU department, insofaras extracting big zip files can take ages compared to my bay 412+, but it's still an awesome bit of kit.

Good quality, easy to set up NAS drive
Good quality, easy to set up NAS drive.Used for back up of business files and is easily accessible from any location via internet.Would highly recommend this as I previously had a WD My Book World which continually dropped out and did not like Windows 10.

Good flexible storage device
Very good capable device that is not for beginners or non IT savvy users.Works very well and provides good flexibility and appears to be secure and reliable.

Excellent product
Very easy to set up and manage. Not much to say really, it just sits there and does its job.
