Q: Does the odor neutralizer release a scented or perfumed smell, or any other odor, or is it completely odorless?

A mild scent. Very pleasant. Stronger at first but fades with every use of the vacuum. I’ve been using mine for 3 months and scent is completely gone.

Q: Is it possible to remove the active element that releases the perfume/scent from the odor neutralizing cartridge, for an unscented experience?

Read your user's manual for instructions on running the vacuum without the neutralizing cartridge.
