Nothing "light duty" about it
I constantly see folks recommending this tablet for "entertainment viewing" and such tasks. Bottom line is, it handles a lot more very well. I use it with Noteshelf3 to create notes and annotations on PDFs as well as drawing in Infinite Painter. It doesn't lag. Its battery life is pretty swell. I use it at work to as my main notepad with a penoval paper-like screen protector and USI2.0 stylus. Absolutely brilliant. There's minimal lag. If I had to choose between writing on this or and iPad, it's this thing nearly every time. The best part is, the setup at 279 for the tablet makes it literally half the price of an e-ink.Storage capacity is reasonable at 128gb and being in the Google ecosystem means I can use my 2tb cloud. I'm snapping with my pixel 7 pro and sharing photography vs relying on its camera. The LCD is kind of weak, but not a deal breaker at the price point. For $400? Eh, no thanks. Less than $330 with accessories all-in? Yes, please. It does seem rather heavy for it being "half empty" per the teardowns. I'll tell you what, battery life is well over 2 days for my use case. I don't need more weight to charge less. In fact, I'd prefer less weight but that's not to say it makes my arm sore. I walk around a million square foot industrial plant with this pixel in hand and it doesn't bother me one bit.I'm shocked at how well thjs G2 performs. It's punching well above its weight imo. I'm by no means a tablet connoisseur. I am an average person throwing tasks at this thing and it just does whatever I ask it to do.If it's on sale, go for it! If not, wait til it's on sale or buy something else. I don't know what else comes with these specific screen protects (paper-like) but it is a must for my taste.

GREAT tablet, Awesome performance!
What can i say? I am impressed with the performance of this tablet! I'm in the process of transitioning from all the apple products to android products and this tablet to me is great alternative to an ipad! YES i bought a 100 dollar android tablet first and well you get what you pay for! So after enduring that slowness for a couple of weeks I invested in this Google tablet and I am impressed! I just do the basics with a tablet so I probably don't really press it to do much, but the response time is great! the camera quality is great as well. Would I recommend this tablet, YES! Spend the extra and get a quality tablet the first time around.

It's like my smartphone on steroids
An outstanding tablet! I use it constantly. And when I'm not using it, the charging stand turns it into a great digital picture frame. With fairly good sound. Not only do I take it with me everywhere, but it now replaces me having to take my laptop computer. It's smaller and lighter and has all the capabilities that I need on the road. Apps run super fast and smoothly. And the screen is large and vibrant. This is the best tech purchase that I've made in years. And it's a great value for the price.

Dock Clunky, Made for Lefties?, Made for Landscape?
Update: I upgraded my rating to 4 as I've solved some of the gripes below and gotten used to how things work.I'm sure I'll like this tablet more as I get used to it, but here are some things that bug me.1. Very Clunky UndockingYou can't just lift the tablet up from the dock—the dock will come up with it. You can't peel it away from the dock, same problem. You have to push down on one corner which makes the tablet clunk into the table. Sometimes after you do that, it re-grabs the magnets again and you must repeat the operation. I'm hoping I can find a better way to do this.My last tablet used a POGO dock, and I could just set the tablet down and pick it up. My wireless telephone has a simple dock that isn't clunky. Why is this hard to implement?2. Orientation ProblemIf you're right handed, you have a table on your right side, and you use the tablet in portrait mode, you will have to hold it upside down. If you don't, you'll have to rotate the tablet 180 degrees each time you put it in the dock. Holding upside down means that the power/fingerprint reader is on the bottom right, the volume up and down buttons work the opposite as you'd expect, and some apps will have screens that are upside down (they don't autorotate). Also, the USB port will be at the top.3. Designed for Landscape Use?You can set an option so that the display won't shut off after a timeout if it detects a face. But this works only when you hold it in landscape mode. In portrait mode, with the camera on one side, it is apparently unable to detect your face.4. Fingerprint Reader, Poor LocationThe power button/fingerprint reader is either on the upper left or the lower right. Both positions are inconvenient.5. No Battery Protect FeatureMy Samsung tablet had a feature to keep the state of charge below 85%, thus protecting the battery from degradation. This tablet does not have that feature.6. HeavierI expected this tablet to be lighter than my last one (since tech has improved). It is not.7. No Option to Do Something When DockedI'd like it to dim, display a clock, or turn off when I dock it. No such options are available, and I had to download Tasker to be able to accomplish that.8. Can't customize 3-Button Navigation ButtonsYou can't swap the "Back" and "Apps" buttons so that they will match the configuration on your phone. You can't let them use the whole bottom line of the display.9. Limited Home Screen CustomizationThis has a big screen, but you can't take advantage of it on your home screen. I installed the Nova Launcher to fix this.10. Clear all Button InconvenientWhen you open the task switcher, you must scroll all the way to the left to access the button to close all apps (called "Clear all"). It would be more convenient if it were aways present on the screen (there's plenty of space for it).11. No Gesture for ScreenshotsMy last app let me palm-swipe from one side to take a screenshot. There is no such option on this tablet. Pressing Vol Down and Power is extremely inconvenient.12. Screenshots Don't Automatically Go to Google PhotosI haven't figured out yet where the screenshots go. On my last tablet they appeared in Google Photos. Hopefully I'll find an option to fix that.13. Slow Charging? The charge level was under 20% when I put the tablet in the dock last night at 9 PM. At 6 AM this morning it was only 91%. Seems it should have been at 100%. I wonder whether charging through the dock is slower than through a USB cable.14. Plug/Port for Charging Dock is Not Standard (Not USB)!!Instead of a standard USB-C port on the back of the dock, there's an old-fashioned concentric port of the type used many years ago. Thus you can't replace the cord (which is not long enough for my setup) with a standard USB-C to USB-C cord.I'm hoping the tablet will grow on me, and I'll find ways around the above problems.
