Wanted to mount a TV on the wall in the bedroom and needed to find the studs to anchor it to. This did it's job and found the studs no problem.

Seems to indicate electricity in a general area around say a socket which says to me don't drill that area whereas I'd have though cabling would run verically above the socket. Would have liked more accuracy regarding this. The battery that came with the unit was as dead as a dodo. Having initially reviewed the item before giving it a thorough testing and now having tried the unit on an outside bathroom wall with no electrical components and the electricity symbol saying there was current wherever I placed the unit, I decided to return for a refund. Probably ok for studs but as for electrical cables not good enough.

So far didn't let me down, so hopefully by using it will not drill through the cable or hose 😄 happy so far

I bought this to detect timber in stud walls. Many false positives were identified. It was frustrating to drill into the plasterboard only to find hollow space.Conversely, when I tested the apparatus to see if it would detect electric wires there was no signal at all.Very frustrating. A complete waste of money.

I have a new build with thin walls , this failed to detect metal pipework

This device does what it is designed for. Works well and is easy to use. The build quality is definitely on the budget end, but for the price is expected.
