`Scott James has been addicted to all things fitness, health and nutrition for nearly a decade'
As an Intro to Scott James book, `Flexible Dieting 101 - Eat the Foods You Love and Achieve the Body of Your Dreams!', this reviewer wrote `Scott James puts himself out there for our benefit. He right up front de-bunks some of the current popular fad diets and nutrition concepts, an feels that if we stick to `clean diets' (no preservatives, refined sugars, trans fats or have undergone any processing) we'll eventually get bored, craving some of those forbidden fruits we all desire. His concept of Flexible dieting is a lifestyle (`a calorie is a calorie and which source it comes from will have no effect on body composition') and as long as we understand the concept of IIFYM (If it Fits Your Macros') and macros then it is easy to follow his ideas.'Now here he steps forward with a cookbook to further assist us in his concern for our health. As he states in his preface, `The recipe within this book include breakfasts, main meals, snacks and desserts, protein smoothies and sides. All of these meals are loaded with flavor, and even better they are loaded with protein and nutrients.' What follows are 160 0fhis favorite muscle building and fat burning recipes and what makes them additionally helpful is that he makes them so easy to prepare.Of course he takes the time to explain calorie sources - protein, carbohydrates, fat, alcohol - and the obvious preferences as food sources. And he gives a reprise on his explanation of BMI calculation. Then we are off to some of the tastiest recipes imaginable - and all are high n protein to build muscle and shred fat. Each recipe indicates the number of servings, preparation time, ingredients, method of preparation, and macronutrients (protein, carbs, fat, calories). And just as with his previous book mentioned above, James offers his information in a most user-friendly manner - and the recipes are excellent! Grady Harp, December 13

What an AMAZING and DO-ABLE DIETING COOKBOOK with useful and healthy and diet friendly recipes! Superb cookbook!
For me, I was looking to find a cookbook for losing 5-10 pounds and for a lifestyle change! This cookbook serves both purposes for me as I really like the recipes in this very easy to use cookbook.+ Each recipe has a list of calories and information regarding nutrition such as how much protein, carbs, fats and total calories.+ It has sections on Breakfast, Main Meals, Snacks and Desserts, Smoothies and Shakes (my favorite section of all), Sides (Sauces, Spread and Snack are found in this section). In these sections, there are many great recipes that are easy to make with healthy and lower calorie ingredients. Here are some of my favorite ones:* Breakfast Fajitas - This is so so easy to prepare and easy to wrap in a paper towel and zip lock bag on the run to eat later!* Tomato Basil Omelet - This is very easy to prepare and so good for you! Ready to eat in must 10 minutes!* High Protein Sandwiches - Great alternative to the old grilled cheese sandwich and ready to eat in just 10 minutes!* Lean Turkey Meatloaf - Moist meatloaf at just 220 calories per serving and so much healthier than regular meatloaf.* Salsa Chicken Tortilla - My FAVORITE of them all! Takes just 15 minutes from start to finish! Excellent for lunch or dinner.Highly recommend this superb cookbook to all, it is a SUPERB COOKBOOK!

Decent introduction to the concept of Flexible Dieting
The recipes are categorized in breakfast, main meals, snacks & desserts, smoothies & shakes as well as sides. Every recipe has a macronutrient breakdown, an estimated preparation time and a cooking time.I consider the book a very good introduction to the world of Flexible Dieting. It gets you thinking of food as something not only to fuel your training but to enjoy as well. Another thing I like about it is that it contains recipes from different types of cuisines which makes you experiment with ingredients. I have definitely tried a lot of new dishes and found out about spices and ingredients I had never heard of. It will improve your cooking skills to some extent. If you see the book strictly as a recipe book than its short and concise format will win you over. What I miss from it is that I would like to know how well I've executed the recipe. Some sort of picture and/or description of what the result should taste like would be appreciated. Apart from that, I believe some recipes are nothing special and could be omitted. Apart from that, almost all non "Main Meal" recipes are made using protein powder, something to know in case you don't use supplements. All in all, a decent introduction to Flexible Dieting and a good stimulus to experiment more in the kitchen.

Practical
I don't see much that's new about this book. It's got the basic body builder recipes that you can find many places on the Internet, but that's not a bad thing. This book does save me the time and hassle of content overload if I search the Internet for healthy recipe ideas. The recipes in this book are easy to make and basic enough even a novice cook can confidently experiment with the ingredient substitutions. The biggest minus is that the book has some grammar issues in the descriptions, but when I bought it the price tag was less than a cup of premium coffee so I'm not going to complain. I'll definitely get my money's worth, and I expect there will are several recipes in here I will make repeatedly. This book a good choice for a person who is just learning to cook and still wants to eat fairly healthy.
