Good product
Have had one of these in continuous use for the best part of 20 yrs. with no problems. For me they usually last 8-10 yrs. apiece, and that's with daily use. The old faithful one that has just died lasted almost 12 yrs. and yes, I am buying another today. You just have to be careful not to overwind it, which is not a difficult thing. You can feel the increased tension when it gets near to the max on the spring. I noticed one of the reviewers commented on how Wally World has them sooo much cheaper. Not so. They are as of this date, $39.99 plus shipping on their site. On amazon they are cheaper, plus they qualify for free shipping. Suck on that Wally World! I hope the new one I am buying lasts like the past ones have. Would definitely recommend for you to buy with not a seconds hesitation.Update. I have had the unit in daily use for a few weeks now, and it seems to be comparable to the one that it replaced, with just one diffference. The spring seems to be a bit weaker than the previous one. Sometimes, it just stops revolving in the middle of heating something for some reason and even though it is wound up properly, it just doesn't want to start turning and you have to diddle with it a bit to get it to work like it is supposed to. Still, it beats not having one at all. Well, just another item to add to the list of things that you buy today that just don't seem to be made as well as they used to be.

Cheaply made, poor performance.
We recently moved into a new house that came with an older microwave. There were few options for this type of product so I purchased it after reading mostly positive reviews. The product works by winding it up and placing anything of medium weight on its surface. This is great for larger items, but smaller things must be put on plates as they will not weigh enough by themselves to trigger the rotation. When rotating the product moves very slowly- much slower than new, all in one microwave rotating plates do. If it continued to work this way I would have given it 3 stars, as it would have performed as expected but did not do a great job of it.The problem is that, as other reviewers have pointed out, the product does not work for long. There is no real stopping point when winding it up which means you either don't wind it far enough causing constant re-winding, or you wind it until it stops. If you elect to tempt fate and wind it to that perfect spot where it can be wound no more, do so carefully. If you overwind it will break. This would be fine if there was some sort of guidance for winding. As there is none, the first time my wife wound the unit she wound it too far and its performance started to struggle. Sometimes it wouldn't rotate at all. Sometimes you'd have to give it a helping hand at the start and then it would rotate. Finally it stopped rotating all together.Buyer beware.

Great Microwave Micro-go-round (portable turntable)
I used to have one of these for years until I purchased a commercial microwave NSF rated. To get that NSF rating the microwave cannot have a revolving turntable inside the unit because of cleaning and sanitation reasons. The one I purchased was supposed have a mechanism inside that directs the microwaves around as if on a turntable.....wrong.I didn't find this out until after I had discarded my old turntable. I had been using the told one for years and years and never quit. This one is exactly like my old one and works just perfect. Yes, it's a little pricey but well worth the money and a lot cheaper than buying a whole new microwave. Simple to use just wind it up and put it in. When you put a plate on it the weight of the plate will start it. If it doesn't just push down on the plate and it will start. Great quality product. If this one lasts as long as my last one I won't need to buy another but if I do for some chance I will buy this one again.

Works well and simple to repair if necessary
My mom had been using one of these for 20+ years, it is still working with no problem. I bought one to use in my old microwave (no built in carousel). It worked for a while, but started to make a grinding/sliding noise and not perform properly. I exchanged it and received another which worked for a few weeks then started to make a similar noise. I decided to open it up. Nomenclature for this procedure: The spinning part that a plate sits on is the top; the part that does not spin is called the base. Invert the unit so the base is up, use the flat of a screwdriver to gently push the 3 white plastic pins (that hold the top on) from the inside of the top far enough out (so they don't engage the teeth on the base) without damaging them. Hold the top and base together then turn then over to the normal orientation. Lift the top from the base. There is a small (1/8 inch x 1 inch) spring in the center of the in the base, be careful not to lose it. Observe the positioning of the 3 ball bearings and the bearing race (take a picture to be sure to put it back together correctly) remove the bearings and the race and set them aside. The sealed flat silver can contains the spring that powers the device. Put a mark on the top of the can so you don't confuse which side is the top. In my unit, the glue that holds the sealed spring to the base had deteriorated. I used 3 pieces of double stick tape to affix the sealed spring to the base. To reassemble, tape in the sealed can, install the bearings and the race, put the small spring in the center of the sealed can on the base, align the center of the top so it fits onto the small spring, lower the top onto the base. Invert the unit, push the pins back in flush with the outside edge of the top. You have repaired your unit in just a few minutes.

Stopped rotating after a couple of uses.
I had one of these units for about 30 years and it worked wonderfully. I have tried to find another like it, but found it very difficult to locate. When I found one on Amazon, I was elated. It was a little pricey, but wanted it so ordered it. After using it a couple of times, it has stopped rotating. What a big waste of my hard earned money. And, of course, I threw away the box it came in, so nothing to return it in.
