I had been looking for a Barbie mermaid for so many years now. I either found them excessively glamorized or extremely feminized. There were none that looked organic or simply down to earth until I came by this one who other than having a natural appealing face, is also slightly curvy in size to appear less girly, but a woman displaying a sensible grownup essence. The doll's warm dark skin tone seems all inclusive, non racial I meant, which is great for anyone to personally identify with. And that deep purple lush of long shimmery hair has got soothing lavender highlights on the front. The translucent twirling fish tail is highly designed on front, as well as on back, and, is also in a colour-blend matching with her hair, set over a bright pink on the lower backside. Then extending upwards toward the torso, the lower body has no exaggerated fancy designs, but is covered densely in natural looking scales of varying size, all in a single shade of a pale pomegranate-red. And whoa! It fluorescently glows, vividly, by the bedroom's blue light. This doll, unlike the other three available from this Barbie edition of mermaids, is the only one with no bodice shoulder straps. Because of this, it looks non-fabricated, very sea-originated and as if her chest is supported by a massive pearls-ornamented seashell; looking realistic by a faded out scatter of blue and white, which is one of the few reasons, of all, she became my first choice. And finally, that small, ivory stained tiara compiled in white pearls and white shells, it fits just right with the soft features of the mermaid overall. Yet, it's amazing how the softness of this contrastingly coloured doll is ironically glimmered even when a low light reflects on her, especially on her scales, as if it does in real on a wet water body of a true aquatic lifeform. Now available at this lowered selling price, this sublime figure, just like her friends displayed on the back, comes in a box which has a wide rainbow spreading out across the inner front top. A mermaid or a merman is basically an amalgamation or rather a sphinx form of a human and a sea life. As we all know, it is a living form transforming into another living form. And by bringing a rainbow spectrum into picture like that, I get the feel that Mattel in their subtle ways of being diversity inclusive in these recent days, has alternatively (in the backdrop), succeeded by showing a moral support and an early acceptance for kids, also for the brands loyal grownups, encompassing all (genders), who identify themselves with their's physical and mental personal Trans-itioning stages in life. Notably, I even appreciate the gender neutral colour palate used to portray this effect on this doll in creative shades of pink and blue which is coordinated so well. The inner message is about building courage and self confidence over a colourful array of possibilities detached from restrictive societal, cultural and traditional bearings, I guess 🧜‍♂️ .

She's a beautiful mermaid doll with soft hair and beautiful tail. The tail fits perfectly. Her clothes are moulded on her body. The crown is attached on her head with tags. She has basic movement in her neck and arms and her tail has a joint too so that she can sit. Its an authentic Barbie mermaid at a medium price.
