Portable and energy efficient AC, just what I needed!
Portable and energy efficient AC and cools my office much quicker than expected. With electricity costs rising rapidly, I bought this portable AC to help cool my office instead of cooling down the entire house with a central AC. It is nice and doesnt take much space at all. Installation is fairly easy, including the hose and panel to install on a window. Comes with a remote control with your power, temp, speed, and function settings. Not only does it have AC, but also has a function as a standalone fan, and dehumidifier function too. Additionally there is a smart timer function so it shuts when you go to sleep. Surprisingly the unit runs very quietly vs other portable ac units, and does a good job not to wake up our young kids too! Very happy with this purchase overall. One important tip that I've learned about all ac compressors, when you open the box and take out the ac, make sure to let the unit sit upright for a few hours BEFORE plugging it in. During shipping the box may have been upside down, sideways, etc and the freon/oil may have air bubbles which may damage the compressor prematurely. By sitting it upright, gravity helps the oil and freon in the proper place so that your unit lasts a long time.

Keeps room cold make sure you have a big bucket
The product is good, I have another brand I bought for a second bedroom, and it keeps the room colder, but the other brand does not have a hose, so you need to get up and empty the water reserve, but not with this one. This one has a hose in a high enough spot to have a constant drain of water from condensation. I turn it on at 8pm and run it until 7am and we get a full bucket of water 3 gallons. The unit works but there is a difference in temperature from the other model I purchased but this does the job!

Works but…
The air conditioner works but the pieces for setting the exhaust up in the window aren’t meant for horizontal windows (up & down, open/close). (Even though one of the pictures shows it set up in a horizontal window). It’s for a vertical (sideways slide) window. I’ll have to cut and modify it to fit. Kinda a pain for the cost.

Practical and Technical Guide to VCK 8000Btu
I bought this unit for my bedroom as in the summer the central AC just doesn't cool the room enough. I needed a unit that was fairly quiet and I am happy with this unit overall. 4.5 stars for me overall. Information on this company and unit is limited online, so I will include real world information below: NOISE: Noise was my top concern when I was purchasing my AC unit, but I'm happy with the noise level here. It is fairly quiet on low cooling. I measured it at 56dB at 6ft distance on low and 61dB on high. It is similar to a medium fan's white noise. I didn't have an issue with it in the bedroom. I don't hear any high pitched motor noises or anything annoying like that either. Not sure how they get the advertised 48dB level, maybe just the fan and not cooling? I didn't notice much difference on "night mode". COOLING: My unit is used for my 12x14 bedroom. It is a little overkill for this room but it cools it well. It cycles on and off once it hits the set temperature. I usually set it for 70deg on low. It is able to cool the room quickly. The output slot only adjusts flow vertically...you can't make the wind blow side to side. EVAPORATION/CONDENSATION: Like all AC units this will evaporate water. There is a hose on the back to remove the water that must be put into a bucket or pumped out of the house. My unit will do 24-32fl-oz of water in 8hrs overnight. So it is quite a bit to be honest. It does significantly more if on de-humidify mode. After a few days I went and bought a condensation pump and it pumps the water out of the window now. Much easier and honestly I recommend that. I bought the "Little Giant 554425" if you wanted to look into that (great unit). ELECTRICTY: Be aware that ACs need a decent amount of current. In my house it runs at 8.2amps (120V, 15amp breaker). Just be mindful and know what your limits are on your circuit so you don't trip your breakers. For example, I am not able to run the AC, lights in bedroom, and the vacuum at the same time. SETUP: Instructions were mostly easy to follow. All you need is a screw driver. It comes with a sliding window panel that can be installed vertically or horizontally. It can fit small or wide windows. My window is 40" wide and the panel still had more room to expand if needed. The vent hose just slides in the panel and secured with a screw. The unit needs to be 19" away from anything behind it per the instruction booklet. REMOTE AND OTHER: The remote is very basic and cheap, but not a big deal to me. It must be pointed DIRECTLY at the unit. I just leave it on 70deg on low and no need to mess with the remote. You can set a timer too, allowing it to shut off after let's say 2hours after you go to bed. One other little note: It only shows the current room temp if the unit is turned off. If it is running it will only display the "set" temperature. Overall I like the 8000Btu unit and is quiet and cools well enough for me. Seems to be built well and I recommend it.

FAULTY AC????
I bought this brand new AC and it came in 07.19.2024. That night it was working perfect, blowing out nice powerful cool air, I left my house at 11:45AM the next day and it’s still blowing the same, almost too cold but I love it, when I get back home at 3:00PM the same day it’s blowing nothing but hot air… hard reset won’t fix anything but it shouldn’t need to be immediately serviced after having it for less than 12 hours… it’s on cool set at 65 degrees and the temperature shows 95 degrees in the room. Very disappointed with the product. The original price of the AC was $299 and I got it on sale on prime day for $199. Not sure if because I got it for such a sweet deal they sent me a faulty one but it’s unfair now with the price going back to $299 I can’t reorder at the same price. Really wish things would have been different.

The perfect small but mighty AC unit
Summer has arrived and I've had a terrible time trying to get to sleep at night with how warm my bedroom is. I'm constantly waking up in the middle of the night uncomfortably hot and find it hard to fall back asleep. I decided to get an AC unit to improve my quality of sleep and after browsing the myriad of options available I decided to try this VCK portable air conditioner. I'm so glad I chose this one because almost immediately my sleep habits improved substantially and I can sleep through the entire night in my nice and cool bedroom even when the rest of the house is too hot. The sleep mode works wonderfully and keeps the unit nice and quiet so I can get some rest. An 8,000 BTU unit is probably overkill for my bedroom since it is nowhere near 400 sq. ft, but I wanted to get a unit that I could wheel around to different rooms throughout the day if necessary. So far this unit has lived up to the challenge. It's so easy to move around and since all my windows are sliding windows it only takes a few seconds to set up. I haven't found any issues with it being able to cool whatever room I'm in, with the largest being my kitchen and dining room that have an open floor plan - about 600 sq. ft. I'm so happy with this unit that I am considering getting a second unit to keep in my home office full-time. I have a few 3D printers in my office and the dehumidifying mode is perfect for keeping the moisture levels under control to ensure my printer filaments stay dry. Overall this is 10/10.

The ad is deliberately misleading and deceptive.
The ad is deliberately misleading and deceptive. It shows a woman seated on a sofa next to an a/c unit. There is no hose protruding from the back nor, is the unit connected to a window. I read the details on the unit but, the part where it states it’s connected by a hose to the window, is hidden many paragraphs down and you will only see it if you ask for ‘more’ info.

Life saver
I'm in Oregon summers are pretty nice usually 80s to 90s but we had a hot couple weeks in the 100s. I ordered this ac to help because we have one more for our 2 bedroom house. I can't sleep at night with my door closed and my room would get so hot. This AC does amazing it does require drainage which I keep the hose in a bigger tuberware and dump it everyday depending on usage. Love the AC. Haven't tried the other features of humidifier or fan. I am giving it a 4 star only due to the AC not having auto setting so it stays on constantly unless you turn it off. It has a timer you can use but I would rather of had auto. Otherwise I would recommend it to anyone. Easy to install and small light weight compared to others.
