Criello USB C to 3.5mm Headphone and Charger Adapter 2 Pack

Just got these and am extremely pleased with them. I was concerned whether they supported a full-fledged trss headset and they do. So YAAY ! i am using these splitters on a chromebook and doing duolingo with it so i need both the ability to speak (microphone function) and to hear (headphone function.) And i wanted to be able to use the charger on the same (USB type C) port at the same time i am using the headset. And this Criello splitter does exactly what i need. (I tested both of the Criello splitters that i received and both worked fine.) Now as to longevity, i indeed plan to return if these splitters don’t last very long. But even then - if one were to fail - since there are two of them (and for very good price i should mention) at least if one fails i can still function by using the second one. (By the way - the chunky block part of the splitter does get a little warm but not probably above about 120°F. So not too worrisome at this point.) (NOTE: a trss headset has four connectors not three like a headphone connector. If the fourth connector is not present, the microphone does not work so that’s why i wanted a full-fledged trss connection.) “A trss headset utilizes a 3.5mm audio jack with four conductors (tip, ring, ring, sleeve), allowing for both stereo audio output and microphone input.”

With an older car that only has an aux plug, I needed a new aux/charger adapter after upgrading my phone. I had my pricey Belkin adapter for years and I loved it. Thinking nothing of downgrading to a more affordable option, I decided to try this one out. It charges your phone for sure, but I have to max out the volume on my car just to hear my music at a decent noise level. On top of that, since my car also does not have Bluetooth or any hands free option to take calls, I could take calls with no issue hearing the other person through my car’s speakers when I had my phone plugged in with the Belkin. This one? Absolutely no sound. I hate driving with headphones in and had to quickly dig them out at stoplights in order to hear a conversation since this adapter didn’t work for a simple phone call. It may be user error, but I’d like to just plug my phone in with no issues hearing my music or receiving a call. I’d rather spend the money on a decent brand that I know works rather than the more affordable option.

I want to use Garage Band on my iphone to quickly capture vocal harmony ideas. This requires a metronome to line up the multiple tracks, but I don't want the click track audio embedded in the vocal track the way it would be if not using headphones. Yet, using Bluetooth headphones introduces such a latency that it's impossible to line up the vocal tracks at all. After spending so much time messing around with this that I lost the idea and all inspiration or motivation, I decided to seek out a way to connect headphones to the iPhone with a wire instead of Bluetooth. The good news is, this works for that! The bad news is that it won't let me use the phone's microphone for audio input while this is plugged in, and my headphones are studio cans from 2013 and don't have a microphone built in. So wahmp wahmp. There's the second little plug that I think might be for a mic? Idk. I ended up just buying a pair of USBC-wired headphones with a built-in mic to use for the Garage Band use case. I kept this adapter however, because it lets me hear phone audio using my studio headphones which have vastly superior sound quality vs any other setup. I have several pairs of Bluetooth earbuds, two pairs of Bluetooth headphones, and now the aforementioned USBC-wired headphones that I bought, and they all sound like toys compared to a regular pair of jack-wired headphones plugged into the phone with this adapter. And those don't even need to be charged or drain my phone of battery at all. So for travel and walking on the treadmill, or any other scenario where I want to listen to music with high quality over-ear headphones, I'll be using this adapter with my good old fashioned jack-wired studio headphones from 2013. I can't speak to whatever the other little plug does since I haven't messed around with it, but if I do, I'll update this review with my findings. Giving four stars instead of five because it doesn't do what I bought it to do, at least not without having to buy a USBC mic which I was trying to avoid, but it is useful for other things that it does do well.

I chose this product bc other reviews stated you’re able to charge your phone while listening to headphones (some other ones did not). I can confirm that was the case for me. I use wired headphones to sleep but needed to charge my phone at night and this provides me the option when I don’t have my wireless charger on hand. Great product. Sound quality seemed to be normal. I’d buy this again.

Works perfectly. Was playing a very long soundtrack on my iPad through a high end audio system. Couldn’t chance a dead battery. Kept the battery at 100% while providing extremely high quality sound. I am hard to please, but am 100% satisfied with this adapter.

I had tried two other varieties of adapters to allow me to use simultaneously a 3.5mm headphone and a type C cable to charge my device. They allowed only one thing at a time: I either listened or charged the device. This one is a bit wider than those two others, but it works.
