Pumps Leather Pitcher Pump Repair Kit Lower Valve & Cup Leather for Pitcher Spout Pump Hand Press Pump(2 Sets)

My small log home is in Alaska. I live in the Alaska interior and far from power. I do have a year round running spring for water. And I use a pitcher pump on counter for my water source. Driving into Fairbanks and home is a round trip of 350 miles. So I have purchased a st of these seals as a just in case issue arises.. this are leather and work well, but unless the pump is used daily the tend to harden and lose suction. However. By pouring a little water into top of pump allows then to soften and work again.. neoprene seals wold most likely work much better, but finding them may be impossible. In a nutshell, I simply purchase several more as backups. These do work well. And solve a problem of me going outside for water.

This set of seals is made of leather and they seal well. I keep this spare set on hand and reorder as it's used. Great value, convenient and fits pump perfectly. Seals to create vacuum needed to pull water quickly. Performs well and easy to install.

I soaked both the cup leather and the flat leather in water for 24 hours prior to installing then in my pitcher pump that is located out on our hunting land. The hand pump primed right up after pouring water in the cylinder and was drawing water great from a total depth of 19'. Its been installed for 3 months now and still working great.

Fit perfectly. Worked great. After two weeks, the leather stretched and fell off. I usually get 5 years out of a leather, and two weeks is sad. Why did it malfunction? RESOLVED. Good fit. If you live in dry environments, watch where you store it & don’t be afraid to moisten with a couple drops of water while in longer storage.

I bought a new pitcher pump thinking this would be easier than fixing an old one I had. Well let me tell you most of the inexpensive pitcher pumps out there don't nearly stack up to the quality of the older ones and this turned out to be a bad decision. They might be good as a lawn ornament but if you need water find an old pump and fix it. After the casting on the new one started to rapidly rust to the point it was virtually useless I went back to looking at my old pump that magically didn't rust nearly as much over many many years. Ran a honing stone through it to clean up the cylinder walls and popped in this kit. Left the pump in a pail of water to let the leather expand and lo and behold it's working way better than the new one did. If you have an old pump buy this and fix it and don't make the same mistake I did thinking a new one would be easier and possibly better.
