Before I say anything else, I want to be clear that I am not any kind of expert on the subjects of gas monitoring, confined space/vessel entry, or OSHA requirements. That being said, I have had some experience.I was once employed by a large corporation whose business involved hazardous chemicals and also had many large and small above and below-ground tanks, vessels, and confined spaces. My experience there taught me just enough to know that there can be serious hazards in such places, some of which can be quite undetectable without the right equipment. Our company required permits and monitoring by our company fire department when we entered such spaces to perform work.So, as far as I can tell, that's what the GiiHoo 4 Gas Detector for H2S,O2,CO and LEL is all about-making sure an environment is non-explosive, non-toxic (within its capabilities), and capable of supporting life. I will use it (along with someone standing by outside) for monitoring the air when I enter either of my 30,000 gallon water tanks, work in/around my septic system tanks, run gas engines inside semi-enclosed ventilated buildings, and also to check for explosion hazards before welding, etc.This detector seems to be quite functional and responsive within the given parameters. I tested it with various methods available to me as well as against a couple of single-purpose gas meters that I own, and it performed very well. It alarms with voice, audible alarm , warning lights, and vibration, per settable parameters.I'm glad to have this product, and I think it will serve a real purpose for me now that I'm retired and responsible for my own safety. At around $100, I think it's well worth the investment.

Nice size and I think is very accurate when detecting gas leak really easy to use

First let me say I am NOT a professional, so if you are then this could be a 5 star item. I got this because I wanted to check for gas leaks, getting new gas dryer and stove. But this isn't very easy to understand with the directions provided for the average homeowner. For example it tells you to set the low and high limits for each category, but they are already in there- as far as I understand because what it shows matches the directions. The preset password is 1111, it also says you can change it bit if you ever forget it, you would have to return it to the manufacturer. I do appreciate that it lists the high and low limits that each should have so you have an idea of what it should be while your looking. The device itself seems pretty nice and well built, the screen is easy to see and it has a clip on the back. It comes in a really nice metal case with a spot for it with its accessories and a good carry handle. It's good, I think, that I haven't had any alarms go off. I started in fresh air, like the directions say, and then didn't find any leaks, that it detected, I think... again I say I think, and that's why I docked a star because I don't find the instructions very "average guy" friendly and when it comes to gas leaks, it's best to not say "I think". I checked with this and the old soap bubble test and don't smell anything so I do believe we will be good to go and it does make me feel better while waiting for the guy who is coming to service the AC and will double check everything for us again. My bottom line is that if you are a professional and are familiar with how these devices and their settings work then this might be perfect for you, but for someone like me with no experience, it did not come with enough guidance to make me comfortable. This was the best detector I've ever used. It gives verbal alerts on 20 different gasses. I tested it on gasoline, L.P. and natural gass. The tester was easy to use and detected the gasses giving me a verbal alert. I'm able to concentrate on what I'm doing and not need to look at the monitor for results. I really like this feature.The tester came with a nice aluminum hard carrying case. It's easy to charge and easy to set up.The instructions are very detailed and easy to follow.The tester also allows you to set up a security pin code. I also like this feature.

A gas detector is something that every household should have. This specific one does wonders in detecting all the gases in your home to keep you and your family safe. It runs on rechargeable battery, just plug it in and you are ready to go.

Purchased to detect 4 specific gases and it works as described when tested against one of our other detectors. Works as well as the more expensive units. Using for building walk throughs. Well pleased.

I got this to look at O2 levels at my cabin in Colorado and while going on hikes at the higher elevations. It is also a backup for detecting Co2.So far, this works great and provides some really usefull information for various gasses. I put it through the works for Hydrogen Sulfide, Carbon Dioxide, and Oxygen. In every case, it detected the gasses in the concentrations that I expected. As I changed the concentrations it reacted quickly and set off the audible and tactile alarms. It is lightweight, strongly made, and easy to see in all light conditions.It is very difficult to find a Oxygen detector that works well and is reasonably priced. This one works very well and comes at a nice price point.
