Great Basic DVD Player
I bought this DVD player to replace an old CD/DVR player that bit the dust. This player worked great from the start. There was really no setup to speak of. I had to purchase an HDMI cable, but other than that, the setup was great. All the DVDs I've played since then have worked great, even ones I had created on the old DVR player. I haven't tried using any USBs yet. So far, I'm happy I purchased it.

More bang for your buck than anything else in this price range
I looked at alot of DVD players and was disappointed in most of what I saw. Some went straight to the video instead of to the menu, some had an audio lag, some were painfully slow to start, and some had unintuitive remote controls. I was especially disappointed with all of the Sony DVD players I looked at. For this and other products Sony has really gone downhill. This Panasonic player loads quickly, sets up easily, opens the menu, the remote has alot of buttons but it is easy to learn, it doesn't generate heat, and basically it does everything it is supposed to do better than many other brands. It does upconvert, not all the way to 1080 (none of them do due to the original quality of the recording), but the picture is better than I expected and there are no artifacts like in other upconverting DVD players. It works through my eARC connections (when I turn the DVD player on my TV also turns on and selects the correct HDMI port on my TV, plus it turns my soundbar on in the correct sound mode), and my TV adds some additional upconversion. It should note that I have a newer 4K TV and I use certified 8K HDMI cables. Since this is installed in an enclosed cabinet, I installed an IR repeater with an outside the cabinet sensor and this player and remote control have no problem with IR response at all. I am very happy with the quality and operation, specially given the price of this DVD player.

Quality DVD Player
The Panasonic DVD player exceeded my expectations. Great picture and sound quality, very quiet operation. No issues at all, so I would highly recommend this as an economical and very functional unit. I almost decided not to purchase based on some reviews, but am very glad I chose this player. Highly recommend!!!

Works great
Generally, DVDs is the only entertainment I have. Plus, I like the freedom to choose what I would like to watch instead of some TV station executive. I've sent 1 back that just didn't meet my standards, which are not strict. I just require it to play my DVDs without any problem and this one meets that requirement (so far). As most others, it is easy to connect to the tv. It seems to be a little slow reacting to the remote but it does ok.

Great unit (if you take good care of electronics)
Make sure you get the model that has the HDMI out as well as RCA cable connection (S700). A couple of things: 1. ONLY use the open/close button for the door--DO NOT push the door with your fingers. It's not sturdy enough for that. 2. ONLY remove a DVD by placing your finger in the DVD hole. The drawer does not have cutouts on the side for your fingers and you could break the mechanism. 3. I have the RCA cables hooked to my receiver and the HDMI cord hooked to my TV. The RCA cables fit VERY tight--make sure they are pushed in snugly or you will have problems with sound/picture. If you're having trouble with picture or sound, the first thing I would suggest is check to make sure the RCA Red/White/Yellow connections are pushed in all the way. 4. I would highly recommend only adults use this DVD player--it's not sturdy enough for kids or others that don't take special care when using electronics. 5. MAKE SURE you read in the manual how to get to the settings. Some will need changing. On mine, the factory setting for picture size was set to 4x3 (for old square TVs) rather than 16x9 (newer recantangular TVs) 6. The remote is very compact/small with lots of close-together buttons. If you're older, you're probably going to have to hold it very close to choose what you want to do. 7. I've thrown all kinds of media at it--store bought DVDs, home-burned DVD-R and DVD+R. No problems with any of them. I have not tried using it to play CDs so I can't speak to that. 8. It's a nice, compact unit and light weight. I'd make sure it's not sitting too close to the edge of where you put it--I don't think it would survive any kind of fall. 9. It came with an RCA cable (Red/White/Yellow) but NOT an HDMI cord so you'll need to get a cheap one of those. The batteries are included for the remote. 10. Picture quality on my TV is excellent. Sound through the receiver is excellent as well.

NOT AN ALL REGION PLAYER!
This was not All Regions. It was sold as "already unlocked" but played no region 2 DVDs. I have tried every single hack explained online. Been into the Service Menu, where the region was indeed set to All Regions, changed the TV setting in the DVD menu to "Auto", so that it plays on all TVs, to no avail. I have finally come across this online: --- 1. Verify the "Region Free" Implementation Hardware vs. Software: The DVD-S700 often requires a hardware modification (a chip installed by the seller) to be truly region-free. A remote code trick (software unlock) is sometimes temporary or ineffective, particularly on newer stock. A chip installed by the seller?!!!! Give this unit wide berth. I have recently acquire a Philips DVD player which came with clear instructions on how to change the setting to all zones and it works beautifully. Very annoyed to have wasted money on this.

YES, IT PLAYS CD's WELL
I have been struggling with a 20 year old Sony 200 disc carousel CD player for a few years now, cleaning and re cleaning CDs, using a "lens cleaner" disc, etc, etc, with marginal results. So, I decided to use the Sony to store and catalog 200 discs for accesss and but a single disc player. Unfortunately, as most find out, audio component CD players are absurdly expensive and VERY overpriced. I was about to pay more than $200 for one until I explored the option of buying a DVD player that plays CDs. I was skeptical, but recognized that the market for DVD players is declining as fast as the market for CD players did. I bought this one, paying about $30 from Warehouse Deals. I plugged it in, connected the audio out jacks and MAGIC. Not only did it play the discs but coupled with my Yamaha CD direct and pure sound receiver, it played them far better than the Sony ever did. Unless you are in need of a player which can read the most expensive discs, do not hesitate to buy this one. Panasonic is a great company and has pride in nearly everything they produce (with the exception of their sketchy history on bluetooth earphones), and this simple, inexpensive device is no different. If you need a component CD player and want to save some money to apply to speakers or a receiver, etc, do not hesitate. Try it. I predict you will like it.

Reproductor DVD Panasonic DVD-S700
Un buen producto a precio accesible y el respaldo de la marca PANASONIC. Muy recomendable y con la opción de conectarlo con los cables RCA así como el HDMI. En otros aparatos no es posible esta variante. Recomendable 100%

This work on 110 volt ac. I had to buy a 220 to 110 voltage converter to use this. And there is no display on this. You won't know which track is playing. Amazon should not allow customers to be cheated like this.
