The Simple Solution to Rock-Hard Brown Sugar
After testing this terracotta disc for two months with multiple types of brown sugar and various storage conditions, I can confidently say this ancient technology still outperforms modern alternatives. Long-Term Testing Results: First Month (Regular Use): Tested with light and dark brown sugar Maintained optimal moisture in opened 2lb bags Successfully softened a completely hardened bag Zero mold or moisture issues Second Month (Stress Testing): Deliberately left container open for 24 hours Sugar remained soft and scoopable Tested in both airtight containers and original bags Effective in both humid and dry conditions Preparation & Usage: Initial setup is crucial for optimal performance: Soaked disc for 15 minutes as directed Patted dry to prevent excess moisture Placed on top of sugar (works better than buried) Rehydrated every 3 weeks (marked on calendar) Performance Metrics: Sugar Softening: Hard sugar: Softened completely in 24-36 hours Maintenance: Kept fresh sugar soft for entire testing period Multiple containers: One disc effectively maintained 2lbs of sugar Moisture Control: No excessive moisture accumulation No clumping issues Even distribution throughout container Advantages Over Alternatives: More effective than brown sugar bears No plastic or chemical additives Infinitely reusable Natural humidity regulation Doesn't impart any taste or odor More environmentally friendly than disposable options Design & Construction: Perfect size for most containers (2.75" diameter) Uniform thickness ensures even moisture distribution Smooth edges won't catch on storage bags Traditional terracotta construction Sturdy enough to handle regular use Minor Considerations: Requires regular rehydration (every 2-3 weeks) Can break if dropped on hard surfaces Needs careful handling when wet May leave slight terracotta marks on sugar if buried (place on top instead) Practical Tips from Testing: Set a reminder to rehydrate regularly Keep away from edges of plastic bags to prevent tears Works best in airtight containers Can be used for multiple containers if rotated weekly Also effective for keeping dried fruits and marshmallows soft Cost Analysis: Considering its indefinite reusability and effectiveness, the price point is excellent. It eliminates the need to replace hardened brown sugar or buy multiple moisture-control products. Final Verdict: 5/5 stars. The Terracotta Brown Sugar Saver is a perfect example of simple, effective design that solves a common kitchen problem. While it requires some maintenance, the results far exceed expectations. It's not just another kitchen gadgetโit's a practical tool that actually delivers on its promises. The initial investment pays for itself by preventing waste and maintaining optimal sugar texture. This is particularly valuable for occasional bakers who might go weeks between using their brown sugar. Highly recommended for anyone who's ever faced the frustration of rock-hard brown sugar right before starting a recipe. Pro Tip: Buy two - one to use and one as backup while the first rehydrates. Your future self will thank you when you're making midnight cookies and your brown sugar is perfectly soft.

Overall good
Small is my first thoughts. I needs to be a little bigger. If you just need to store a 3/4 bag to 1 bag brown sugar this is a quality nice container. In my opinion though, it's wayyyy over priced and there are many thick nice storage containers in many sizes on Amazon. I know I looked them up after seeing how small this. It's not tiny but it's very small. Very thick though looks like glass. I need another one for my dark brown sugar but there's no way I'm paying another $20 for this little thing. My brown sugar was opened and used some. Not sure how much I had already used but I use brown sugar to make cinnamon rolls regularly. What was left nearly filled this little container. So if your a heavy baker I would recommend something bigger.

Really works as claimed
I was dubious that this would work; but it really works as claimed. Great product at a very reasonable price.

IMPRESSIVE!
I can not believe this actually worked! My brown sugar was harder than a diamond! I put it in this little container with the hydrating puck and holy cow my brown sugar is soft and ready to use!!! Wish I would have known about these 10 years ago! The bread trick only lasts so long. The little container seems a little cheapish but it has a good seal on it so if you're careful it should be just fine.
