API pH UP Freshwater Aquarium Water pH Raising Solution 16-O

This works really well and quickly, it just doesn't last very long which is why I knocked a star off. I have a tank with a large piece of driftwood that tends to drop the pH and in addition to crushed coral, I occasionally have to use the pH UP to keep the levels balanced. It does a good job but only lasts a day before I have to do it again.It works well in emergencies or when I don't have time to change the water that day but need the levels balanced quickly to avoid harm to my fish until the next day when I can do a proper change, but for long-term use this is not the way to go. I would still recommend this to have (as well as pH DOWN) for emergency use, but bouncing the pH drastically is going to do more harm to your fish than letting them adjust to slightly higher or slightly lower levels.

I use most all of the API product lin: PH up and PH down are both essentials As I have both Snails and fancy guppy tanks ( 2 snail and 2 guppy ). I recommend if your are a serious fish or snail hobbyist - buy these two Pimafix (for fungus) and a few others. You will need them and be so glad to have on hand .......also the API test kit (has testing for all components of fresh or briny water - this is a must. Unless you are up for unexpected deaths ...when you could have prevented this by making sure your water is correct for all in the water. I test my 4 tanks every other day and make needed corrections. If you cannot afford the big kit PH testing is mandatory! Also temperature! ....,must be checked daily. Take care of your lovelytank critters! They are not place in the tank and feed.They require more care to keep them all in tip top shape.

This stuff does exactly what it’s supposed to. Just beware and make sure you dose it correctly. If you add too much too fast, you risk putting your fish into PH shock and killing them almost instantly, you need to add it very slowly to the tank, possibly over the course of a few weeks depending on how low your ph is. The fish will adapt slowly over time to a declining ph so if you raise it suddenly, they will go into ph shock and die within hours or even minutes.
