This HMYC Mazda CarPlay and Android Auto Retrofit Kit worked great and was a nice upgrade for the car. Once installed, it really makes the Mazda feel much more modern. Having CarPlay and Android Auto available is a huge improvement over pretending the old setup was “good enough.” Installation was pretty manageable with the help of a few YouTube videos. I would not say I magically became a Mazda technician overnight, but after watching enough clips and pausing at the right moments, everything came together nicely. The kit fit well, the Type-C fast charging interface is a great bonus, and everything has been working like it should. Overall, this is a solid upgrade if you want to add modern connectivity without replacing the whole car. Just bring some patience, a few tools, and maybe a healthy respect for plastic trim pieces.

Added USB C and wireless carplay, the two things I was really missing out on with my car. Installation was very easy and I have had no reliability problems.

The gadget works as intended in my 2017 CX-9 GT. It was plug and play. Build quality is excellent from my POV. The device came with the necessary cables and foam stickers with which to wrap them. The instructions are clear. Removing the trim in the car is a tricky and at times delicate affair, but there are plenty of tutorials online. It bears repeating: update your infotainment system firmware BEFORE you install the new hub! The built-in wireless module boots up instantly and CarPlay is running within 15 or so seconds of starting the vehicle. Could have gone for wired but I pike a clean center console. It’s been a game changer (but I can’t give this hub credit specifically for the ability to install CarPlay - credit is to Mazda). Where this shines is the builtin wireless card and the Type-C port. I haven’t tried that but understand if the wireless card is selected (the little switch hidden under the SD cover), then the Type-C port only serves to charge your device. For those who care: note this is a p3.1 hub. I went with this because, based on my research, although the following iteration (p3.2) includes wireless Android Auto (only wired on p3.1), it does this through some chip baked into the hub with Android OS on it — which boots on ignition and then emulates CarPlay. On the forums, people have described this software implementation as slow and unreliable. tl;dr if you are on the fence, don’t think just buy. The price is fair for this aftermarket replacement with extra bells and whistles.

It was really easy to install! Worked very well! Sometimes it is not connecting and you have to restart the multimedia system. I am not sure if this is because of this module or phone's bluetooth! Overall, it is great and it works fine!

Easy to install. Works great so far. Definitely watch some videos on youtube and do some research on the internet if you haven't done one of these. I found typos that were very helpful and saved a lot of time.

Worked great for about a month before it started malfunctioning (right after return window ended). Randomly cuts out of CarPlay every couple of minutes while driving, when plugging in charger, or when generally touched at all. I cannot trust it for following GPS directions as it is liable to cut out at any moment . Sometimes will reconnect, sometimes will say “no CarPlay device detected” or “CarPlay not responding” and take minutes to reconnect if it does at all. Perhaps I just had bad luck receiving a faulty product, but with no customer support option after purchase, I’d save the money and buy elsewhere rather than hoping you get a functioning one.

Installation was a chore - strongly recommend looking up the youtube videos, having a set of plastic shims for taking apart a dashboard, and going slowly (took me more than an hour to route the cabling and install the new unit.) Make sure you also upgrade to the right firmware first! But the final upgrade was well worth it Android Auto works great and puts the map right on the display - no more phone clips or looking down at the phone in the cupholders.

The biggest reason that I wanted to install Android Auto was for Google Maps integration. Unfortunately at least on mine, Google Maps is extremely buggy.. I don't know what the issue is, but to me this was not worth all the hassle after spending hours researching, watching a bunch of installation videos, updating firmwares, and then finally doing the installation. Only to wind up with a buggy Android Auto experience.. I just wish it had a better more stable connection, I've tried with both my S25 and my Pixel 9 Pro and get the same buggy Google Maps experience which is super unfortunate as that was my main reason for buy this.. The fit is fine and so is the charging, I'm really happy with the addition of USB-C.

Der Einbau war unkompliziert und gut machbar, da es sich um ein OEM-kompatibles Modul handelt, das perfekt mit dem Mazda MZD-Connect-System harmoniert. Alles passte ohne Basteln oder zusätzliche Anpassungen. Wireless CarPlay verbindet sich schnell und zuverlässig, ohne Verbindungsabbrüche oder Verzögerungen. Die Bedienung läuft flüssig, genauso wie bei einer ab Werk verbauten Lösung. Besonders angenehm ist, dass kein Kabel mehr nötig ist – ein echter Komfortgewinn im Alltag. Fast delivery, works perfect. Has been using on my Mazda 2017 for a couple of months, and it works like a genuine part from Mazda. The installation was quite time costing (taking out the old part then installing this) due to the car's assembling of that area. I had to look for multiple guide videos to get it done (this is not the product's fault). The one real issue is: you have to disable the Auto Android's location access to make the navigation on car's screen work, other wise, it would jump back and forth between your home and current location.

Funciona a la perfección, la instalación puede ser algo complicada pero para eso hay que ver videos de Youtube ya que no vienen instrucciones. Llevo dos semanas usándolo, la calidad del audio es mejor que antes, y la calidad en las llamadas también mejora muchisimo. Con el puerto usb c se carga muy rápido. Aun no he intentado usar el modo carplay por cable, ni el android auto, pero por lo pronto todo funciona muy bien, desde que prendo el carro en maximo 10 segundos se abre solo el carplay
