Dennis Duckling

Good story although not suited for children who no longer have contact
Good story to explain adoption and fostering but couldn't use it with our child as part of the story includes birth parents visiting the foster home. This would have been too traumatic, as a result it is hidden away in a cupboard unused.

A great book to share with children away from their parents
This is a very good book, which helps to explain to a child, why sometimes they cannot live at home with their birth parents . This book introduces and explains, in a child friendly way, the roles of the Judge, guardian and social worker. This book may be a little advanced for some 3 - 4 year olds, however it can be simplified as age appropriate if necessary.

Dennis Duckling
Brilliant pictures and simple explanations for young children in care. We have a five year old who refused to accept her status as a "child in care" but has started to relate to Dennis and his sister and to talk to us about what is happening to her.

Great books for Foster Cares to read to their foster children
Very helpful and well written books. Used to help prepare foster children prior to moving to their adoptive family.
