Fresh, but costly.
Very good but cost more than double what they cost in the grocery stores. My wife picked up two tubs in ByMart for less than $22.00, regular price (not on sale) I knew that but hadn't been able to find it in any grocery stores for over two months.

Happy Wife
Bought then for my wife, said she had to have red vine. Walmart didn't have in stock. She likes them fine!

Bad taste...Bad texture.
Terrible taste and texture. It has a bit of hardness to it and it leaves an aftertaste that is not pleasant. I cannot return it but I will never buy this brand again. I have had other licorice that was very good from a different company. I bought this because the price seemed good.

caution for those on certain meds, should have a warning label, as black licorice is very powerful
This product is clearly overpriced; it was available at my WinCo store for 9.99. it also need a disclaimer for those taking certain blood pressure meds etc. as black loricice can cause reactions to some medications.
