Will not work if under a cabinet. Great product!
Nice product! My only complaint is that it does not work if there's like a shelf above it. In my case, they're staying the steel above the lid, allowing enough room for the lid to open without hitting anything. It does not work it does not open. But I was determined to see if I can make it work and outsmart that sensor. I did! I put a piece of tape over the sensor just partially, and now it works like a charm. It does not come with batteries, and you need 4C size batteries to operate it. Not sure how long the batteries will last. Be sure to buy batteries. This trashcan looks great and operates very well. I believe this is probably the best sick can get for the way. The door opens and it looks fantastic. That's what saved this trashcan from not going back.

Damaged trash bin
I received my item today. The Amazon packaging box was fine, however, when I opened the box, the manufacturer box inside had a big dent and so does the trash bin.

Small bathroom garbage can
I wish it had an on/off button like the 13 gallon garbage can that I have already.
