I can't pass up a crock when I'm thrifting. They're killer planters, containers, cookers--obviously--but lately, I've been re-purposing them as candles. Heavy, classic, minimal. Over 4 pounds of Oregon beeswax was melted down over a double-boiler with organic coconut oil, and lots of soy flakes which were then poured into the wide flat crock, with five tall wicks in the middle to offer a consistent burn to this oversized candle. It's over 12 pounds of wax and porcelain crock. The beeswax was mixed with lavender flower buds harvested by hand in Bend, Oregon. Beeswax naturally purifies the air when it burns, without plastics or artificial scents. Consider cutting wicks down to 1/4 inch before burning. Burns 60+ hours! (12" diameter, 3" height)
