Easily one of the best of the new transformers line
I grew up with the G1 transformers and my 5-year-old really loves them. Tomahawk is easily one of my top 2 transformer toys from any generation (the G1 Skyfire being number 1).This one is pretty easy to transform, once you get a few tricks down. The modern transformers are generally so complex that the instructions really only give you the broadest idea of what is supposed to happen. The looks of Tomahawk are awesome, in both attack helo and robot modes. The robot mode is very well articulated giving really good range of motion in all limbs and joints (unlike almost everything from G1). In spite of the relative complexity, both modes are tightly fitted (no major gaps between pieces) and there is almost no wiggling of parts (except for the main rotor). There are only a few quibbles that prevent a 5-star review.1) The afore mentioned instructions2) The upper-wings just don't stay on well... especially during transformation. Fortunately Hasbro figured out how to make reattachable joints, so it's more of an annoyance than a major flaw.3)(and this is really minor), the main rotor blades always get in the way. In robot mode or during transforming, no matter what you do, you have to bend the blades to get the right change. This bugs me only because of my OCD and the need to make everything perfect.Well worth the cost.

"you just killed a helicopter with a car!"
Loaded with weapons, as an attack helicopter he looks sleek and dangerous. This is a helicopter Transformer done right! Tomahawk looks amazing in his black paint with gold and gray detailing. The thing that really wow'd me was the ease and simplicity of transformation for a helicopter Transformer. I mean previous ones have either been entirely underwhelming or devastatingly complex. In Robot mode he has bird like legs/feet which fit the aviation theme. The helicopter cockpit becomes his chest-piece like of the original G1 seeker jets and his head is reminiscent of a pilot's helmet. Interestingly his head/helmet visor is yellow like his cockpit but his eyes are actually light-piped with blue, which adds a greenish affect to this eyes. I live the way his hands flip out and the helicopter tailpieces fold back to forearm armor and a pincher weapon. His missile weapons are spring powered and are pegs and clipped so you have a good choice of placement options.Tomahawk is one of the must have molds from the Hunt for The Decepticons line. He's easily one of my favorites from this past year. Retailing between 9 and 13 most places he's totally worth every penny. A must have for adult collectors and I'm sure kids will love him. "I was out of bullets."And remember parents: If you don't like challenging your children, BUY AGE APPROPRIATE.

Definitely not for a 5 year old
I just purchased this toy for my son who is turning six. It says that it is for 5+ and has a rating of "intermediate". My son gave it to me after trying to transform it from a helicopter to a robot. I then spent about 10 minutes getting the toy transformed. Of course, as soon as it is a robot he wants it back into a helicopter, which I have to do because there is no way he can do it. That took about 15 minutes. There is no way you are going to figure out how to do either transformation without the instructions, which are not that easy to understand until you have studied them for awhile. So you will have to keep the instructions stored in a safe place until you can get the hang of transforming it. While I was transforming pieces kept falling off. The arms, legs, and wings are all held on by ball joints. The toy is designed to fall apart while you transform it. This is the fourth transformer I have bought. The other three ended up in the trash because they will not stay together and the pieces ended up missing. I am going to return this one. The ones my brother had in the 80's were much better. The only reason I have kept trying up till now is that my son real wants a transformer, but he wants one he can transform, not one I have to transform for him. I have yet to find one. I am hoping that the Bumblebee activator that I purchased when I bought this one will be easier. It has a rating of "easy".

One of the best
One of the best transformer figures in my collection. Vehicle mod is very goddbut even better is the robot one. Head sculpt is awesome as so is the torso and arms. Only downside is probably the feet which look funny but overall a great figure.
