Who Can You Trust?
In book three of the Mark Taylor series, his danger packed adventures continue as he uses his unusual camera to snap future pictures which put him in harms way yet again. In Book One and Two we have learned that this camera, purchased on a trip to Afghanistan is no ordinary camera. Unlike any other Mark has used or owns, this model takes pictures of events yet to happen and after looking at them, when he sleeps, his dreams fill in details that the photographs have left out.An old "friend" from Mark's past shows up with his sights set on commandeering the camera for his own felonious purposes. On the wrong end of the argument Mark once again finds himself between a rock and a hard place and on the receiving end of a well placed punch. As the story progresses, the author draws the reader deeper and deeper into the web of danger which Mark's enemies are weaving, not only putting him on a path of danger but threatening thousands of lives with their evil plans. He has seen betrayal and realizes that his friend is and was not the man he believed him to be. Mark begins to wonder if anyone he knows is trustworthy. A terrorist, plotting against innocents not only physically injures Mark but now causes him to doubt his instincts, fear his confidants and family and race against time to stop the atrocity and bring safety to a city he holds dear.McDonald uses Deeds of Mercy to deepen relationships in Mark's life by bringing him face to face with his doubts and fears. We see new facets of not only Mark's character but get to know the other characters better as well. We learn more back-story about Jim and Jessie and Mark's father. Not knowing who is to be trusted and who may bring more trouble into his life, Mark becomes a fugitive, finds himself deep in trouble and intrigue as he races against time to retrieve his "magic" camera.Fast paced and edgy, this third book in the Mark Taylor series not only keeps the reader turning pages in the wee hours of the night, but sows the seeds of dismay when it begins to appear that this may be the final installment and that this will be the adventure that spells death for our hero. A good read, and a fitting sequel to both of M.P. McDonald's Mark Taylor books.

Too many
Plot issues. The centre will not hold. I will follow Ms McDonald and perhaps down the line I will find anothe of her works more to my liking. Please, know that I'm not being overly picky but I'm 66 and thousands of books yet read. I can't waste time trying to make sense out off something that isn't up to my admittedly high standards

Deeds of Mercy
While visiting Afghanistan, Mark Taylor purchased a camera that had magical qualities. When developing the film from this old-fashioned camera, additional pictures would appear, depicting a negative event that would happen in the near future. Taylor would then dream about the events in these pictures and, if he acted fast enough, be able to prevent them. The series happens in the early part of this century, when film cameras were still in common use.The reaction of some readers to the second book in the series, March into Hell, was interesting and, in my opinion, missed the point. Through both books, Mark is consistent. He's the good guy and, with the assistance of his magic camera, fights evil. That the primary evil Mark was fighting was a religious cult triggered some knee jerk reactions, not recognizing that Mark was still fighting evil.Deeds of Mercy is a return to Mark's roots, in that many of the ways March into Hell was different from No Good Deed do not apply to this latest installment. As with No Good Deed, this book is operating in the political, rather than the religious realm. Who is friend and who is foe is no longer clear. Deeds of Mercy also answers one of the big questions some readers had about what happened to one of the secondary characters from No Good Deed, and brings that story thread to a satisfactory resolution. If you're a thriller fan, especially political thrillers, and haven't read No Good Deed, you need to. For those who have read the series and felt March into Hell didn't live up to your expectations, Deeds of Mercy almost surely will.**Originally written for "Books and Pals" book blog. Missed Opportunity
Mark had something of a missed opportunity to psych out Mo and maybe turn him. Because Mo had Been thinking that Mark could not be a prophet it meant that he had been considering that Mark was a prophet. Mark could have said that he was a prophet Just not A religious prophet And that by Moe opposing him He was opposing god's will.

Comfortble read. Believable characters
This is apparently the last in a series (so far?)I enjoyed reading all four books of this series, but this one ended very abruptly. I would give the whole series 5 stars except for a smattering of pg13 language issues in #2 & #3. It was not out of context or you anything would not expect to hear in real life dialog and most people probably wouldn't even care or notice. I just think the reader should know it's there. When I began reading the prequel I was thinking, yeah-right, kinda lame but after book #3, the fourth book in the series, I am looking for a movie to come out. I must say though, not once did I want to trade places with the 'hero' of this story. Enjoy but remember to read the prequel (Mark Taylor-Genesis) before you read book #1.

Twists, turns, mystery, and terror all in one!
While the past of 9/11 is still in our memories, the war continues on the pages of this thriller. While parts are straight out of make believe, you can see see how others transpire. How our own mindset can be used against us.

I love this character
A young man and a very special camera. I read the first book of the series and felt poor Mark's suffering. The camera is both a blessing and a curse. Poor soul spends most of his time trying to prevent disasters at great personal cost. Imprisoned, misunderstood, then lauded as a modern day god. What else can happen to him? A great read. I loved the second book though it was cruel to this man I had come to care about. That's the secret of a good book. You have to care about the characters and boy do I care about the lovely Mark. In the third book he encounters a 'friend' from his past. Can he save the day again? You can feel both the sadness and desperation sweep over him. Please let there be another Mark Taylor book.

I love this series
If you are reading this then you have most likely read the earlier books in this series.I love M.P. McDonald's writing. I came across these books by accident and purchased Book One - note that there is also a prequel Book zero 'Genesis'.Great idea for a story and superbly written - I am now on this one 'Book Four' and cannot put them down. Realistic characters.

Great film trilogy opportunity if any producers are reading!
Read the first of this trilogy when a friend recommended it as something a little different - couldn't wait to get my hands on the next one which turned out to be even better. Just as I finished that, I heard a third had come out, went straight to the Kindle store to download it and didn't look back! Get writing Mr McD - I've nearly finished it!

Crazy but it works
I loved the first two in this series and was so excited when I saw the third was out. The story is obviously a fictional thriller with the magic of the camera (which I don't usually enjoy) but it still had me hooked and ends up nearly believable - I hope there are more to come?
