The color and style is so cute. The base is VERY light weight, made of plastic. The knives are a hammered metal style. The handles on the knives are not wood, my husband says maybe they’re a super soft bamboo wood but they feel almost rubbery to me. This set actually came with measuring spoons and cups!! We were needing some so that was a pleasant surprise. So far, the knives cut amazingly. we’re very happy with the value of this set.

Nice and small, great for small kitchens with limited counter space. Love the black color, and the coating prevents water from rusting the blade and super easy to clean. Great value for the cost, even if they were a little dull out of the box. I sharpened them up and now they are my everyday knives.

When I removed this product from its packaging (it was well packed), I ran my thumb against two of the knives and thought they felt dull. I was about to re-package the set for a return despite its design appeal and the wood handles on the knives. Then I decided to test it on a hothouse cucumber and a Roma tomato. Beautiful, thin slices (they cut like butter!).I also own a typical knife block that takes up quite a bit more space front to back. This vertical profile of this one, however, is more appealing and doesn't take up much space. There is a slight trade-off in that the knives stand straight up, versus pulling them out from an angle in a traditional knife block, but the trade-off is worth the minimal amount of space it takes up.I have not yet tried the cleaver or scissors, but based on my testing of two knives, I assume they will be as good. The design is pleasing to the eye as well, and although I haven't tried adding other knives in the "zig-zag" inserts, it might be possible.I highly recommend it for its functionality, quality and presentation.
