Effective, low cost, easy to use
After much research I discovered my Tetras had mouth rot. It is a bacterial infection. This product was recommended by the local pet store's Aquatic Specialist. I checked the reviews on Amazon as well. Maracyn received 4 and 5 star reviews. This product was much cheaper on Amazon compared to the local pet store. Maracyn treats a broad spectrum of gram positive infections. This product comes in pre measured packs. Each pack treats 10 gallons. No measuring and no mess. No worry about over or under dosing your fish. You have to remove all chemical filters before treatment. Maracyn will make your water cloudy. This product also strips your bio filter of good bacteria. You have to use an ammonia reducer (like Prime) because ammonia levels can spike during treatment. Keep an eye on your water. Test your water during treatment. I feel these are minimal side effects to ensure healthy fish. After day 3 the mouth rot was gone. I will complete the 5 day treatment plan as directed. Day 6 you do a 25% water change. Use all new filter media, including chemical media. I use Seachem Stability and Seachem Prime to cycle my aquarium faster, and establish my bio filter. I am very pleased with the results of Maracyn. It treats a broad range of gram positive bacterial infections. This product is easy to use. It is effective. By buying Maracyn on Amazon you will save money. I would highly recommend this product.

My new betta had something on his eye. This not only cleared it up but I hadn't realized the discoloration on this head was something to be concerned about as it was there when we got him. He's looking so good. We only have a 3 gallon tank (I KNOW it's small it wasn't supposed to be for the betta but here we are). The online made more sense than the written instructions for smaller tanks.One thing that isn't mentioned is snails. My tank had nerite snails. I noticed at the 2 hour mark my guys were tucked in his shell and had fallen off the side. So I quickly removed them to another tank. (Thank goodness we had a second tank available). They snails are fine but I was scared.
