Just what was required also great sound

This is a nice quality item for the price, although it wasn't obvious that the rear speakers needed connecting together with a wire (included in the box and extremely long), although the subwoofer is wireless. Setup was simple, and although the included remote control responds well, it's easier to set up and customise via the LG Thinq smartphone app. If connected via HDMI/ARC to an LG smart TV, it can be turned on and off and volume can be changed via the TV remote, but there's around a 10 second delay and depending on the TV sound settings, some silence when starting up. I bought an optical cable and have it connected to that instead so that it's controlled separately from the TV (avoiding the delay). I've awarded 4 stars because I am a little disappointed with the lack of "forward facing" sound from the soundbar itself, and tone only allows for bass, mid and treble rather than a full EQ range, but the subwoofer and surround speakers sound awesome. Good overall.

I’m using this sound system with a non LG TV so it’s not as easy to set up as when I had an LG OLED TV. I’ll be getting one of those soon. The stereo sound and sub woofer makes it more of an experience when watching films etc. Samsung interface is not well designed for quick connection.

This LG US40TR soundbar is genuinely one of the worst audio purchases I’ve ever made. Let’s start with the sound quality, which is only marginally better than my LG TV’s rubbish built-in speakers, which is impressive in the worst possible way for a dedicated sound system. The real kicker though is the rear speakers that don’t automatically switch on. Every single time you want to use them, you have to manually turn the system on and reconnect via Bluetooth. Every. Time. It completely defeats the purpose of having rear speakers in the first place and makes the whole setup utterly pointless. Reliability is awful, usability is awful, and the performance is laughable for the price. I ended up ditching it entirely and going back to my £80 Edifier Bluetooth speakers, which sound a million times better and, funnily enough, actually work without me having to reconnect them every time I sit down to watch TV. If you’re expecting an upgrade to your home audio experience, look elsewhere. This thing is frustrating, poorly designed, and not fit for purpose. Avoid.
