3M Safety-Walk Indoor/Outdoor Slip-Resistant Tape, Grey, 2 in x 15 ft Roll

i got this item because we have a grout and 1.5" x1.5" tile shower floor (shiny type of ceramic tiles). those rubber mats w/ suction cups never really stuck securely to the tile floor (maybe due to the placement of the tiles and grout) so it was very dangerous stepping in and out of the shower - plus, they are a pain to keep clean. so, i thoroughly cleaned the shower floor using muriatic acid (normally for swimming pools) and dried it as best as possible w/ a couple of dry towels. i cut long strips (like two 3' and two 4.5' strips), placed them so that the end pieces landed in the middle of a tiny tile to guarantee a good stick on the ends at least. the width of the tape is what made me nervous because it would land right where the edge of the tiny tiles curved down and the grout starts but after applying the tape, i pressed down the tape but paid more attention to the edges by pressing them w/ the waxy paper part of the sticky backing of the tread tape (the part you throw in the trash). in hind sight, i should have purchased that rubber roller that is recommended... but it all worked out great. it's been 2 months and all the tape is still down on the shower floor. no corners or edges are coming up, yet... looks good and is easy on the bare feet. my thinking is, if the edges start to come up, i can take an exacto knife and trim as needed. but so far so good. my dad uses this shower and he drags his foot due to a stroke so this tape works great for him.

Warning - I put it on fresh wood - which isn't recommended - and it holds pretty well. My excuse - I needed it right away to keep people from getting killed on a new ramp that is slippery when wet. The surface is excellent - it holds well - bare feet, slippery moccasins, flip flops, etc. - and doesn't have a sandpapery effect on bare feet. Really nice. Actually it is holding pretty well, but I have to keep pressing down a few edges and corners. My fault, I highly recommend this product if you install it correctly, or even if you don't. Nobody is getting hurt, and that's what matters.

We have hardwood steps on our stairs and we don't wear shoes in our house, that proved to be a dangerous combination--my foot slipped once and I fell down on my back. At the local hardware store they only had the normal, outdoors tread tape, which would destroy our socks (or the soles of our feet) in no time. After taking some measurements, I decided to buy two packages of 3M's indoor tread tape. Other reviewers have complained that the tape starts to come off after a few weeks, but that hasn't been our case. If you follow the instructions you shouldn't have a problem. Every time I go downstairs I feel so glad I finally bought this product, I feel so safe. ============= Update: I've had them in place for over a year and there is no sign of them coming off! My wife was worried about how our stairs would look with the tread on them and the truth is that nobody notices them.

I bought these treads to reduce the "slipperiness" of my composite decking steps on the front and back of my house. I followed the package instructions to install. Bad move! After a few weeks the 3M treads peeled up at the corners, so I removed them and began looking for an alternative. I couldn't find anything better, so I ordered another pack of the 3M treads and installed as below: 1. Cut the 3 M treads to appropriate length. 'Round off" the four corners of each tread, using a coin. 2. Using a pencil, outline on the steps where each tread will go. 3. Using the outlines of the tread as a guide, brush contact cement on the steps where the 3M treads will be placed, and allow the cement to "cure." (Contact cement in a brush applicator bottle is available through Amazon or any hardware store.) 4. Place the 3M treads on the steps and press down. I put 2 x4s on top to add some weight and pressure. 5. Stay off the treads for a few hours This seems to have helped.

All hail the Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing company! They may cost more than their competition, but I've never bought a bad 3M product in my life. Note that they make different tape grits for different duties, ie; bare feet, work boots, office shoes... that grit choice is more about wear and lifetime than it is effectiveness. As with all self-adhesive products, you must clean and dry the surface carefully. The adhesive has very high grab and tack, so be certain you have the piece lined up carefully before you let it touch the surface. You can also use the backing paper to slowly expose a short length of the adhesive, applying it from one end to the other, a bit at a time.

I have seen a number of reviews here saying this product fails miserably outdoors. I cannot comment on that, I haven't tried them outdoors. I needed something to make a sharply inclined physical therapy exercise ramp safe, to prevent sliding off. I tried a number of anti-skid strips and they all failed under stress, slipping away from the position they were placed in and migrating down the ramp, or peeling off completely. I've had these on the ramp for months, so they have had a lot of use, and so far they are exactly where I originally put them with no sign of peeling off. The adhesive appears to be quite good and the grainy surface provides an excellent foothold for sneakers to grab to. If they will hold someone on a 25 degree ramp without slippage of either tape or foot, I have to assume they would do great on stair steps or floors, but all my experience with them has been in a dry environment. Pros - Stay tightly in place and provide very secure footing, even under the considerable stress of a sharp incline. Cons - Others have said they loosen and peel off in wet environments, I have not tested this.

My project is a boat trailer ladder. I went to apply this product to the treads and the backing delaminated, leaving micro-thin backing paper adhered to the product, which is impossible to remove. This product might be sold as old stock, where the adhesive has either failed or changed to the point that the product and backing will not separate. Contrary to popular belief, many adhesives like tape have a shelf life, and 3M should do better indicating that on its products so that customers aren't deceived by potentially deteriorated product. This tape is a total failure, and I can't recommend The Southern Sauce Company LLC as a vendor for this item. If, however, a fresh roll turns out to have the same problem, I will update my review accordingly, which will likely reflect that the product itself is unfit for its intended purpose. UPDATE July 14, 2024: New product came in same package and appears identical. This time, however, the backing removed correctly, and product applied nicely. Will try to update on service life / longevity in the future. For some spots I cut the corners rounded for aesthetics, and left them in one other spot; not sure if a sharp corner will lead to peeling there. Also, the edges of some spots are curved on my application, so time will tell if they stay adhered to the painted steel (rectangular tubing) of the trailer.

I used this tread on my trex deck so that my dog would have a safer place to walk. She is a 12 year old golden retriever and her hips are starting to give out a bit. So far the tread is working. We will see how it does in the winter. Well, the 3M tread did not stick to the trex this winter. As soon as the first snow flew the tred started coming up. I applied it correctly after cleaning the surface, ensuring it was dry and applying in warm temperatures. Very disappointed.

After a slip and fall, I installed this on the steps to the top of my daughter's bunk bed. No trouble since. Texture is rubberized so it's easy on bare feet and doesn't shred socks. Adhesive is also ridiculously sticky (as it should be), you get one shot to put this in the right spot - so take your time...

Works well after applied. But the backing is very hard to peel off, the paper backing keep tearing, so is quite frustrating, and you may just give up and throw it away.

I used this tape to give some grip to my dogs carpeted ramp which definitely is not it’s intended use but it worked perfectly! It’s got a strong adhesive on the back which stuck to the sides of the ramp as well as the carpet. It has a nice rubbery feel which gives plenty of grip without being rough like sandpaper. Is comfortable to bare feet and dogs paws 🐾
