Does the shredder have automatic overload protection, which automatically shuts down when the machine runs for too long or paper jams?

This machine is not that sophisticated. It's simple. You can only put in about 3 sheets at the same time and they will be shredded. It's a small machine. I keep it under my desk for simple shredding jobs.

How many sheets of paper can it cut at a time?

Standard 8 sheets for 80 GSM paper ,Max can shred 10 sheets for less than 70 gsm paper 1-3 sheets is fast, it will slower if more than 6 sheets at a time

Does this work on the really thick credit cards?

As long as the are not thicker than a CD, it should work fine. I have cut up three with no problem.
