Uncover a Dog (Uncover Books)

Nice teaching tool, especially for those that have problems visualizing where all the organs/major skeletal bones are.This is not a toy! I would not give it to younger children, as there are small pieces glued into the book, which they would either break, or remove from the book.Go back to this book many times, when my veterinarian and I are discussing issues, so that I can get a better idea of placement of organs.

Izzy is a bright, inquisitive 4-year-old who has a dog just like this! She loves the book with all the hidden puppy parts revealed.

We purchased this book and Uncover a Cat for our six year old granddaughter who would like to be a Veterinarian when she grows up. A few months ago when I asked her how school was going she was very discouraged because they were not teaching her anything she needed to know about animals and being a veterinarian. I went on to explain that everything she learns now will help her prepare for college where she will learn more about animals and their care. However, we decided to search for books that we could assist her with and she could keep as a reference and this along with Uncover a Cat are just wonderful. When she opened them at Christmas she was beyond excited. We picked a quiet time to read and review and as young as she is, she absolutely loved them and told me she would keep them in a special place so her little sister couldn't get at them. There are more books in the series and we will probably purchase them at a later date. Great find for any age capable of taking care of a fragile book!

The book itself is *really* cool. It's enlightening to flip through the layers and see how parts fit together. But the plastic parts are attached to the book in a very flimsy way, so it takes almost nothing to break them off, and thus our used book arrived with the digestive system missing completely and the skeletal system barely hanging on. I don't really blame the seller, it's not something a quick inspection would make obvious. But I'd suggest clamoring for a reprint then buying it new, if you can't buy a well-inspected copy.

My Daughter, 6 years old, loves this book. The stories and facts are enough to come back and review. There's not a tremendous amount of written information, this book mostly about the model dog; however, asking questions and discussion the topics on the page has made this become a regular favorite bedtime and rest time book for the past 6 months or so (so far). She's actually named the parts now and points them out when she sees other dogs in the neighborhood. She will tell dog owners when she pets their friendly dogs, "Ohhh I can feel his heart!" and "His lungs are really working!" Stuff like that makes me I got this book.

My daughter loves both dogs and Uncover books, so we were excited to see this one come out. I have to say, we were a little disappointed. Both the facts presented in the text and the parts included in the model seem to have been chosen randomly. The book does not present a systematic introduction to a dog's anatomy and the facts do not join together to make a whole as they did in the human body book, where every page talks about a different body system. It did not hold my child's interest as much as the earlier books did.

I was happy to find exactly what I was looking for, a kids book about the anatomy of a dog, but was disappointed when the book shipped damaged. One of the many plastic model-type pieces in the book was broken. I ended up just repairing the book with glue and I wouldn't have minded except the description labeled the book as brand new, and I was in rush to turn around and ship the product back out of state as a Christmas present. All in all, I was satisfied with the product once I made the repair.

I gave this book to my granddaughter who is a dog lover. She hopes to be a vet someday and was very interested in the "insides" of dogs. Her family has two dogs as pets and she was amazed to see how their bodies work!I recommend any of the "Uncover...." book series. I plan to add more to her collection at every gift occasion.

Very educational suspect very good for someone setting out in the veterinary world

The book was in plastic when it arrived, but must be really old. The edges are damaged and the cover looks as though it has been used. Very disappointed really, given that it is a present for a little boy.
