'THE INSPIRATIONAL 'EVERLY'S'
My first pop/rock act I truly admired, the quality of their harmonies un-riveled.Whilst 'Elvis' was serving his country back in the late fifties till the beginning ofthe sixties, 'Don' and 'Phil' became one of the hottest properties around. In fact, when 'Warner Brothers' launched there music-label the 'Everly's' song'Cathy's Clown' was the very first single they released, it topped the chartsboth sides of the Atlantic. The 'Everly's' had a long list of hits in the late 50's before their switch to the'Warner' label. This 3-CD album contains many of the duo's chart-hits along with many of thefabulous B-Sides and many album tracks, though as with many artist's releases, all the hits are not on board. The 'Everly's' had great success with songs written about 'lost-love' many examplesof this are on the collection such as --'Bye Bye Love'.....'Crying in the Rain'....'WhenWill I be Loved'.....'So Sad'.....'No one can Make my Sunshine Smile'......'Cathy'sClown'.....'Don't Ask me to be Friends' .....and.....'Since You Broke My Heart'.....need I say more ? (we loved these songs)Among some of the other memorable tracks to enjoy on this 3-CD 'Everly' collection'Wake up Little Susie'.....'Walk Right Back'.....'Temptation'.....and.....'How can I meetHer'....on disc one......'All I have to do is Dream'.....'Ebony Eyes'.....'Bird Dog' .....and.....'Muskrat'...on disc two.....'Claudette'.....'Lucille'.....'Leave my Woman Alone....and.....'Carol Jane' (from their album 'It's Everly Time) ..on disc three.....just some of thegreat songs to enjoy on this splendid release. For me, the 'Everly's' could do no wrong, so glad I got to see them on stage a coupleof times.I've followed many artists down the years however the 'Everly's' kicked off my love ofpop/rock music all those years ago, in fact the first 45' I ever bought was 'So Sad'Of course, sadly 'Phil' the younger of the brother's died on the 5th January 2014 at theage of just '74' I was deeply saddened, I'm sure many of you mourned his passing. This 3-CD collection is a worth while addition to those of us who followed the 'Everly's'down the years or as a collector of early pop/rock music. It would be fair to say if like myself you've collected their music down the ages it is morethan likely you'll already have many if not all the material to be found on this collection, however, the play - order is fresh. The 75 tracks on-board have been digitally re-mastered (great sound up-grade)
