Working as Expected; Bright Light on Side

Pros:- Sounds the way it should, as far as I can tell- Has a sturdy metal case compared to the plastic ones being sold by other companies- Smaller than expected, which would make mounting easy (sticky Velcro pad probably required)Cons:- Has one of the most obnoxiously bright, blue LEDs on the side- That's it, at the moment; I'll update if anything changesTip: If you want rid of the light, remove the 4 case screws, open it, wiggle the LED back and forth several times until its two wires snap off the board, then put it back together. That'll probably void some warranty, but the splitter will work fine without it, and a quarter of your room won't be glowing blue.

May not power all sound bars.

It is a good product and works fine except it would not drive the sound bar. My sound bar requires a full strength signal . This is a passive splitter that divides the signal in half for each output. I need an active splitter that will provide full power to each output. Lesson learned. This may not be true for all sound bars but it was for mine.

Works well for my needs.

This works very well to split the optical output from my cable box to the inputs of both my hearing aid transmitter and home theater receiver. It does not come with a common USB-C power block which is necessary to power it, so make sure to get one if you don't already have one to spare. I recommend.

If you have more than one device requiring digital optical, this is the ticket for you.

Works exactly as expected. I probably should only rate it four stars because it does not come with a power supply. If you buy this you could connect it with a USB cable plugged into your TV. I opted to buy a 5 volt 1 amp power supply instead.Functionally however, it works beautifully. I'm powering a soundbar, and two Sennheiser RF headphone sets (RS-195s).

How Can You Go Wrong With a Passive Splitter?

My LG TV has a single optical output. I use it to feed both my stereo and my sound bar (that way I can use the sound bar as a center speaker for movies with the stereo). Normally I just use the sound bar. I have a fully working and functional active optical splitter that I was using (and am still using). I figured I’d clean up the mess behind my TV with a passive optical splitter (no power supply). That didn’t work out at all!If you look closely at the end of a standard Toslink optical cable you will notice that the end is not quite square. There are two small ridges sticking out on opposite sides and one side is perfectly flat and one side has the corners slightly notched off. Why the hell they did that I cannot imagine since a perfectly round connector would have made more sense - But that’s the Toslink standard…The two female optical jacks do not actually match the shape of the Toslink connector - At least not on the one I got. It has the two ridges but the two other sides are identical - unlike the actual optical connectors. The male end is properly shaped. By the way I am a now retired Electronic Engineer - I do know how to insert connectors. No matter what orientation I tried on the weird connector neither my sound bar nor stereo received the optical input - I assume the problem is that the connectors were not fully aligned and engaged. To answer my title’s question - “How can you go wrong with a passive splitter.” The answer is if you use the wrong connector or the splitter is improperly assembled! For the seller or manufacturer - Don’t bother asking, this review stays up.

Excellent!

This 1 x 3 optical splitter was what I needed to take the optical output from my TV to my AVR, soundbar, and DAC (which feeds my tube amplifier). It has worked perfectly so far. It's USB powered and has a blue light to indicate power on. Seems to provide a good, strong signal. It's designed well in a sturdy, metal case. A great value for the money. Suggest using good quality cables with this.
