Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the knives and the block. Very sharp out of the box. Comfortable to use and work with. Would definitely recommend these knives.

I’ll get the bad stuff out of the way first: The knife block is huge and only the steak knives fit in the slots. If you’ve got a small kitchen with limited counter space, finding somewhere to put it is going to be difficult. I’m also not a fan of having the big, sharp kitchen knives on the outside of the block rather than safely within it. If you’ve got children that can reach your counters there is nothing stopping them from grabbing one of the extremely sharp knives. I would much prefer to have had the block be about half the size and for it to have slots for the kitchen knives as they are going to get far more use than the steak knives which could be kept in a drawer. Onto the good points: The knives are well made and nicely balanced. The join between the handle scales and tang of the blades is smooth and well finished. The blades are all sharp enough to slice a sheet of paper out of the box as well. The Damascus pattern is well defined (although not as pronounced as in the promo images). I don’t have any way of testing the blade hardness, but a gentle tap of the edge against a wooden cutting board didn’t leave any damage to the edge, which is more than can be said for some of my other knives so I’m happy so far. If I find that they don’t hold their edge as well as claimed, I’ll come back and update this review. The knives are worth 5 stars, but the block is awful and for us at least, useless so I’ve taken a star off for that.

An incredible set, cannot recommend enough

A comprehensive set of knives, and wooden magnetic knife / scissor block Item arrived very well packed, certainly attests to it's quality. All the knifes fitted with small plastic blade guards, and covered in a cardboard sleeve per knife. Then within a cardboard box within the main box that contained the knife block that was protected by some foam for transport. I did notice a couple of marks on the Acacia wood block. The Acacia wooden block is magnetised on both side, I also noticed that the top slots when entering the steak knifes also became magnetised. Not sure if this was down to the side magnets or magnets in the upper slots? The upper slots will only take small knifes, which is a pity. There's 12 slots in total, so room for some additional knives to be added to the block, as the steak knifes only uses six slots. The large knives I attached to the outside, nice strong magnets, no issues at all. The knife sharpener has it's own round slot in the top. Plus the scissors also it's own slot at one end of the block. Note: Only the sides of the block are magnetised, the clear end is not. The knifes overall are really nice, look great, it's a little vanilla if you like the marbled styled handles or not, but that's down to personal preference. Very comfortable to hold, plus a solid tang making them very strong! Also some nice touches of design to the ends. The scissors for me are a little under whelming, good but from my perspective nothing special. The Damascus is quoted as "with Damascus pattern". As I already own some forged Damascus knifes I really couldn't tell if these are forged or etched. Either way they look great. Plus I couldn't find any literature to advise or confirm how the blades had been made, if Damscus forged or not? Rockwell harness of 54-58 which makes them great for amateur chefs, being easy to sharpen etc. Plus not being towards the brittle end of the HRC scale for kitchen knives. The overall quality for me is really good, certainly looking forward to using them. At the time of my review, retailing for £129.97, exc. £10 voucher to be applied at checkout.

Summary - I like the knives, not the block so much - but ultimately I care most about the knives. First impressions weren't great as I got the knife block out before the knives. It just doesn't feel nicely finished, and seems like it's solid wood, but wrapped in some sort of veneer which wasn't done properly. That being said it's really solid. I then opened up the knives and saw that the slots in the block are just for the steak knives, but there are twice as many slots are steak knives, and the rest of the knives have to stick (magnetically) to the side of the block. I was impressed by the knives though - I'm not that fussed about the pattern on the blades made to look like they're Damascus steel, but they were paper slicing sharp out the box. The knives balance nicely, and even the handles are nicely finished too. I think that the set is good value, the knives and accessories are high quality - just a shame I don't like the block more.

This kitchen knife set is simply exquisite! From the magnetic storage block to every single knife, everything about this set feels and appears as exceptionally solid and gorgeously sleek; the quality simply shines! The block is made of a strong plush wood, hold it in your hand and the weighty feel only adds to the sense of quality. The design is slim and slender, enabled by the wonderfully strong magnets built into the side that attract your larger knifes effortlessly (see video). Each knife feels weighty and solid to hold, the beautiful marble handles look amazing and the blades are sharp, sharp, sharp! Don’t forget that sexy tribal pattern applied to every single blade. You also get a sharpener and a very decent pair of scissors, all of which have a home in the block. Nothing not to like, this set is fantastic!

This is HEAVY - a serious kitchen block. If you have a tiny apartment with a small kitchen, this probably isn’t the set for you. It’s big & heavy so it isn’t easy to move around counter surfaces. The magnetic side function works pretty well - love how handy that is for using whilst you’re meal prepping - quickly tap your knife to the side temporarily & it will sit there happily. The outer surface is nice and smooth - so no concerns about food stuffs sticking - easily to wipe down after meal prepping. Note - you HAVE to use the outside magnetic function for the bigger knives - they don’t fit inside the block. I docked -1 star for a Good 4 star rating because of the colour. I found the massive wooden block to be a fair bit darker than the photos. I found it to be quite a heavy dark wood look vs a dark brown look that I was expecting from the photos. Seeing other reviewers photos - I think it just depends on what you get - mine was darker pieces overall. I also didn’t think that style-wise the handles matched the look of the block neither. It’s a very masculine look - not overly stylish in lighter styled kitchens. I also docked -1 star for the slots.. they don’t fit the larger knives. So you’re forced to keep some knives outside- which is obviously an issue in any household with children. So, although the knives are great and I LOVE the magentic side function, style wise it just didn’t meet my expectations vs the photos. So a Good not Great 3 star rating from me.

I was surprised at first at the size of the knife block itself it is a solid , heavy piece and takes up slightly more space on my worktop than I expected. It is a lovely colour and well made but I don’t like the knives being attack magnetically to the side…..I am sure they are safe but being a bit clumsy I am worried I will knock them and they will come loose. The knives themselves are amazing though - a great design and super sharp- as well as the chefs knives you also get 6 steak knives as well. I have been washing them by hand without any problems. If you like the knifeblock then you will love the knives for their quality. And although they are a higher price than some I feel the quality is worth it and will last a lifetime.
