Outstanding
If you're looking for a beginner's book, this probably is more than you need. It is detailed and comprehensive and invaluable for those seeking more information than is found in the typical beginner's books. I find it to be an incredible resource.

Good reference for those interested in natural medicines
The two volumes are essentially independent of one another and do not necessarily have to be purchased as a set. Volume 1 is a nice introduction to complementary medicine, especially as practiced in Australia. Volume 2 is a an encyclopedic compilation of reviews of herbal and nutritional supplements. Although there are online databases such as Natural Medicines, it is often more convenient to have a book such as this on the shelf to refer to. The reviews are current and balanced. The only reason for giving it a 4-star rating (rather than 5 stars) is that the abbreviations used in the reviews in Volume 2 sometimes require a bit of digging to understand.

Excellent Reference Guide complete with Clinical Practice Guidelines
For anybody looking into plant medicine, whether as merely a curiosity or as a potential career, this is THE guide to start with! Volume one is a thin book with guidelines on clinical practice and Volume two is a hefty encyclopedia on most common herbs, vitamins, and minerals. The guide cautions the reader when there is little evidence to support a potential herbal remedy and also points out where more research is needed for those who are in the field. In America, this is a new emerging field that is gaining momentum and sadly we really don't have any comprehensive herbal guides such as this one. I sought out these books because the current standard of medical care in the US is greatly lacking in quality. Doctors here often scoff at herbal remedies, however thanks to the info in this volume, I'm currently treating ailments of myself and my family members without prescription drugs. If you are here for the same reason, it is well worth the investment!

Very good resource for clinical herbalists - needs another edition to include more herbs
As a research and reference book, it is very good for the herbs that are in it. I like the amount of research/clinical studies for each herb - a couple of pages minimum for each.My biggest complaint is that some of the plants that I use in my practice aren't in here so I can't use it as my go to guide. These books came individually wrapped. There must have been a printing error and some pages are cut strangely..this doesn't affect the text so not a big dealWould recommend for clinical herbalists.

Top Refence Book
Top Reference Books. Very detailed information on several hundred naturopathic and herbal remedies. Can't wait for the 2020+ to this current 2015 edition. Worth the investment!

Essential Reference
For people working with the clinical use of food supplements including herbs, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients this is an essential reference text. It is well referenced, practical, comprehensive and user friendly. Having worked in food supplement research, product development, and education for several years I can confidently state this is the best reference of its kind available. Its a myth that supplements are not evidence based, and this unique text proves it.

295/5000This book may help chemistry students, not for herbalists, for holistic therapists, or for housewives. It seems to be an industrialized book, that is, commissioned by a group for the purpose of selling, profiting. It does not smell of herbs or flowers ....
