Fantastic at retaining heat
I've only used the pluger part once (for a loose herbal tea), but I've been using the beaker regularly over the last couple of months. I found the plunger slightly tricky to clean, but think that was partly due to some of the 'bits' in the tea mix. I'm also not used to cleaning a cafetiere, so don't have practise at cleaning this type of gadget. It's normally around 7:30am that I drop a teabag into this, and then add the freshly boiled water within the next 5 minutes.I pop the lid on (without screwing it at all) whilst the tea stews - I like a strong brew.Around 7:50 I remember it still needs making, and go and fish the tea bag out. When making in a mug I sprinkle on a small amount of dried milk, but this is still way too hot (even if I've left the lid off completely!) and it clumps. If I don't have any liquid milk in the house I have to mix some milk powder with tap water in an egg cup before adding that to the hot liquid. Then I screw the cap on.The only liquid I've ever had to wipe off the outside has been condensation that formed around the screw threads on the neck whilst the lid was resting on top, and has now dripped down.I carry it to work in a pocket on my body warmer, so the fact it has a small catch to stop the lid accidentally popping open is a huge bonus as there's no risk of scalding myself with hot liquid.I get to work around 8:30, and it's still too hot to drink - even a tiny sip at a time, which the lip allows for.I did initially completely remove the lid around 10am, which made it drinkable by around 10:15.But for the last couple of weeks I've not opened it at all while in the office, and don't start drinking it until closer to 11am by when I'm working outdoors.I still only have a small amount at a time, and it's common for me to be finishing it off around 12:30 - with it still being a good temperature.I also use it in an evening if I'm sitting down to binge watch a TV series, sit through a long film, or settling down to do some paperwork I could easily be distracted from by 'needing to go and make another drink'.My partner and I were on holiday last week, and he used a gadget to measure the temperature of the contents every 20 minutes or so through the spout opening. It dropped a couple of degrees celcius in two hours - at which point I took it off him so I could drink the contents.....As someone who works outdoors, I'm looking forward to being able to take a hot drink out with me during the winter. I'm debating getting myself a second of these so I can use the limited brewing facilities at work to make another closer to 10am - which should mean I have a hot drink available for almost all my shift as I wouldn't start that one until early afternoon. It will make a nice change to nothing but tap water.

morning coffee
I was unsure about this before it arrived, but it makes an excellent cup of coffee. Now I just need to get a grinder to make use of some of the beans I've also got!
