Zen Doodling Mandalas Paperback – Illustrated, 1 Jun 2014

What I liked about this in comparison to Zentangle books is that she encourages you to make up your own designs and draft a larger whole using thematic elements. So for instance if you are drawing a mandala that is cat-related, you draw a stylized cat and the fill other areas with relevant animals and toys or plants related to cats, or more importantly, cats in your life.Rather than copying she gives you a jumping-off point to creating your own mandalas and filling them with your own life and creativity. The examples for each design run over many pages so you don't get dozens of them, but the core ideas are terrific, particularly if you get bored copying what others do and want to push out into designing your own things.

aus der Vielzahl der Tangle Doodle etc. Titel ragt dieser Titel hervor, weil es einmal nicht um das Nachmachen von Linien mit komischen Namen auf Quadraten vorgegebener Größe nach zertifizierten Instruktionen die eine ganze Industrie erzeugt haben ...es finden sich Beispiele und Anleitungen wie man kleine Muster selbst finden, entwickeln und kombinieren kann um sie in ein eigenes großes Mandala einfließen zu lassen. Einige Themen werden vorgestellt - Sonne, Mond, Sternenhimmel, Spiralen in Pflanzen und Tierwelt, Schneeflocken, etc und die Entwicklung eines prachtvollen DIY-Kunstwerks beispielhaft gezeigt. Sehr anregend.Dazwischen finden sich auch sehr gut gewählte Zitate und Gedichtzeilen, perfekt.

Das Buch ist nur in englisch erhältlich, das ist aber kein Problem, denn die Erklärungen sind auch grafisch dargestellt und leicht zu verstehen. Insgesamt werden 8 gigantische Mandalas der Künstlerin vorgestellt. Die Mandalas sind sehr individuell bis außergewöhnlich und unheimlich inspirierend.

Lots of ideas. Great book. Its more of what to do with your "zentangling" than how to "zentangle" ...not for absolute beginners i would say, unless you are already the creative type.

Amazon konnte als einziger diese Bücher liefern. Dieses Buch muss man als Mandala Fan haben.

Didn't realize when I ordered that this wasn't a coloring book.

Obwohl ich nun schon viele Bücher zum Thema Zentangle oder Zendoodle habe, tut es mir niht leid dieses Buch auch noch gekauft zu haben. Wer Mandalas mag, dem kann ich dieses Buch empfehlen.

Good book

The book is clearly organized in different chapters. Each chapter is clearly, and beautifully illustrated and the instructions for each project are useful and easy to follow. It is well balanced in technique and principles of how to create mandalas, leaving plenty of room for each individual's own creativity.The author gives good suggestions for materials and equipment without forcing the user to purchase a specific brand or tool. She even suggests plates, cups or any other round objects to trace circles.I am looking forward at experimenting with her ideas to create a project of my own.

Amazing book on Mendalas ! Very inspiring and I am very happy that I bought this really good book on mandalas!

Got this for a talented 9 year old granddaughter for Xmas, worried she might be disappointed with all the big boxes kids were opening, but for the rest of the evening every time I looked at her she was eagerly, happily working on another mandala.

This book is filled with ideas for patterns to draw inside your mandalas. It also shows you how to make a perfect circles with a small plate and coffee mug to set the foundation for your mandala which I thought was very neat. Overall a very fun art book!

I like the pictures and colors.

It was a Christmas gift for my nephew and he just loved it!

This is an interesting book. I have been drawing a great deal of inspiration from it!
