Versatile, comfortable, and reliable. Perfect even for work and casual gaming.
I’ve been using the SHOKZ OpenRun headphones every workday for the past ten months, mainly for business calls, and I can confidently say they’ve exceeded expectations. What initially drew me in was the open-ear design, which has changed how I work and move through the day. No more ear irritation, no discomfort from having something stuck in my ear for hours. A lightweight, secure fit that I often forget I’m even wearing. Despite their simplicity, they never slip out of place. The sound quality is solid, especially when you consider the bone conduction technology. It’s not meant for rich bass or ultra-precise clarity, so if you’re an audiophile or music producer, this might not be for you. But for calls, podcasts, or background music, it does the job very well. There’s a bit of sound leakage at higher volumes, but honestly, the vibration becomes uncomfortable at that point anyway. It naturally keeps you within a comfortable listening range. The mic has been perfectly reliable. I tend to double-check how I sound on calls, and the feedback has always been positive. It pairs effortlessly with Microsoft Teams and connects to both my laptop and phone. I've never had an issue switching between devices, which is something I can’t say for most Bluetooth gear. I haven’t tested it extensively in heavy weather, but in day-to-day use, even in busy or noisy environments, I’ve never struggled to hear or be heard. Over weekends, I’ve used it on runs and even for the occasional gaming session. I’m no competitive gamer, but for casual play like Skyrim: Oblivion, it performed surprisingly well with no noticeable lag. One unexpected bonus is being able to game or watch something on my computer while still hearing my kids if they call from their rooms: a huge win if you're a parent trying to balance things. Battery life has never been an issue. I’ve never drained it in a day, and although I’m not sure how long it takes to fully charge, the USB-C connection is solid and hassle-free. The headphones still look and function like new after months of use, though I do store them carefully in their soft pouch inside my laptop bag. They’ve held their shape well, but I wouldn’t toss them around carelessly. All in all, this is a quality product with a smart, no-fuss design that works across multiple aspects of daily life. It might not look like much, but if you need comfort, situational awareness, and dependable performance, this one’s a keeper.

Exceptional kit
Very impressive bit of kit. First very light and fit easily. Thought they would fall off while running but no issues at all. Sound very good quality. Even when listening to rock I could hear everything around me. Charging very easy. Buttons bit fiddly but now got use to them. Made to wear even in the rain! But not tried that …

Brilliant but can clip notifications
I should have bought some of these years ago. Walking the dogs in the park I can listen to music or podcasts without being one of those plonkers who blasts their media out loud with no regard for anyone else. And of course unlike with earbuds you can hear normal conversations, bicycle bells etc really well. The obvious drawback is the expense and the battery life - made worse by the fact that you can almost forget you are wearing them, and keep them on and connected even when you don't need them - like I am at this moment. That's what made me realise that notifications can get clipped, so you miss the first second or so of the sound, and if your notification tone is less than a second long you might not hear anything at all, except maybe a click or a squeak. I also like the USB C charging of the model I bought - no need to cart around an adaptor. I originally bought these so I could listen to media in bed without bothering the Mrs and still hear her if she spoke to me. They work very well in that context... I might need to buy another pair. I'll probably wait for Black Friday though - these things are expensive.

Finally - a standard charging port
I've used a pair of AfterShokz Pro daily for the last 3 years or so, they were great on my cycle commute in all weathers and ideal for taking calls in noisy environments. Sadly I've mislaid them, so I bought these to replace them. These seem just as good if not better and benefit from having a standard usb-c charging port. At first I was gutted because I thought they no longer supported multipoint and I was seriously thinking about returning them, as a last resort I read the manual. Lo and behold a 3 second press on the big button and the volume + puts them into multi point mode. They're ideal for me as my hearing is quite poor due to always standing next to the speakers back in the day before anyone wore ear defenders at rock concerts, so I can't really comment on the audio quality but they sound as good as over the ear cans to me. Overall well chuffed, and looking forward to years of regular use.

Great for running and not being isolated from background noise
Great device - sound quality is good but a bit lacking in bass - which I expected. Great for running outdoors whilst maintaining situational awareness - also the same in the office. One niggle is they do not auto power off so you can accidently take them off and leave them in standby and they go flat after a few days. I would recommend them - see if you can get them on sale.

Great buy, perdonan
Just what i wanted, amazing quality sound without compromising my external hearing. Easy to connect to both my phone and tablet, comfortable to wear and easy to wear.

Great when ou want to be aware of your surroundings
I bought these for my wife, who develops ear infections when using earbud-style headphones. In spite of the fact that the speaker is not over your ear, they produce a great, clear sound (although they will never reach the quality of over-ear phones or good buds). They are comfortable and light. I have used them when I want to be aware of my surroundings and not be audibly isolated, and for that, they are superb. If I were a regular cyclist or runner, these would be my first choice. I would strongly recommend getting a case to keep them in, they would not survive long thrown into a backpack or bag!

Truly terrible sound
Avoid! Absolutely dreadful sound quality. No detail, weight, definition or bass the sound. I’m no audiophile, but these were genuinely the cheapest, flimsiest sounding headphones I’ve ever heard. Terrible value for money (£129). Unacceptable, even for “bone conduction” / open ear headphones. No app or connectivity support either. For reference, I usually run in Soundcore Liberty 4 NC headphones. They’re not ideal for running, as they loosen easily (which is why I was looking for more specialist running headphones), but they sound 1,000 times better and cost less than half the price.

Should have bought these earlier
I love these! Have tried them so far on a few runs and they are lightweight and very comfortable. Its great to be able to have the ears free. I have not tested the battery life but it seems to hold up nice. No downsides really but if I had known there was a short version I would have bought it instead. I have a relatively large head but still the strap feels too big. On the other hand as they are so light weight its nothing that really feels bad unless one leans backwards towards something. My only regret so far is not buying these earlier
