The tubes/pipes are really quite chunky and come in quite a clear acrylic, not perfectly transparent (at least in part due to the thickness of the walls) but sufficient to see what's going on inside. They are robust enough that bending them is a little challenging, but as long as you don't need them for any particularly tight contortions there should be enough play in the material to suit most needs that way. Being acrylic, although thick they can be cut relatively easily in case different lengths are required. It's also a good amount of pipe for the money, particularly given how long they should last.
