So I really know nothing about fishing reels so I made my hubby pick his own gift out. I know, that's terrible, but at least he got what he wanted. He was super impressed with this reel. He said it is a great reel for this price. He is excited to get out to use it. He read many reviews so he feels pretty confident this is going to work great. So wives if your hubby is looking for a saltwater reel and you don't want to be like me and make him pick his own, go ahead and order this one!

I bought this reel for an anticipated upcoming fishing trip with my son - our fist time surf fishing. My second cast into the surf and the locking nut on the handle fell off and was lost in the surf. It's unfortunate because I think it is a really good reel. Amazon refused to allow a return for replacement because a month had passed since I purchased it. The company is located in China so I thought there was no ability to seek help there but to my amazement Dr. Fish reached out to me and sent me a new handle, locking nut, and two neoprene reel covers to boot. I changed my review from a one star to a four star. Thanks Dr. Fish!

This is one of the better budget reel with quality. Pros: Light weight for the sturdy reel body Med to light weight, good balance for a 10 or 11 for surf casting rod. It will not balance a 12 foot rod, it's boarder line working on an 11' Drag Sound it Amazing (similar to $200 reels). You will hear it on the beach. Handle Length is perfect Handle Arm is solid metal Handle Knob is the perfect shape for Surf casting reels Ease of use with getting the Handle Arm tightened and on a rod Retrieve is very smooth Functionality wise, it does what it is suppose to do Line keeper on Spool has the perfect gap for all mono or braid sizes Cons: Spool Plastic Collar on the Bottom (meant to keep sand out) Design concept with the plastic collar being guided up and down by the Bail housing arms makes no sense. The fragile thin plastic pieces will get grease and sand build up and break in due time. This is common on lower budget reels.

Great saltwater reel that is affordable. I put this on a 12' beach stick with 55lb braid. Holds a lot of thread! I've taken this to the beach several times and works like a champ. Landed 3' and 4' sharks, no problem. No salt or sand in the gears or at least I can't tell if there is. Can cast bait across a football field with end zones with a 6 oz weight.

Great product, especially for the price

Strong durable, heavy duty and can bring in some big fish with no problem. Best spinning reel I ever bought would buy it over and over again.

EDIT: I reached out to the company and they sent him a replacement. I am hoping this one is better. The company responded right away and sent a new one to replaceme the broken one really fast. They have great customer service. This reel is crap. My son bought this with his own money and has used it 3 times total and its stripped and won't work. Save your money. It will completely wasted
