Watercolors Color Depositing Hair Dye Shampoo, Warm Spice, 8 Fl Oz

I like this shampoo a lot. The shampoo left my hair clean, shiny and easy to manage. I had purchased this shampoo because my shoulder length color treated blonde hair had for some unknown reason turned green. I was hoping this shampoo would neutralize the green in my hair. Although the shampoo had no effect on the green in my hair I have continued to use the shampoo to help cover my gray. I do still need to touch up my gray roots.

I have naturally red hair that isn't as vibrant as I wish it was. I have been an avid Aveda user and use the madder root shampoo and conditioner. There is no color deposit in the shampoo. The color in the conditioner is high pay off - first time you use it, you get results. However, the color is fake red - not a coppery natural red color. I didn't want to dye my hair but wanted to enhance the color I already have. So i purchased Davine's Alchemic in Copper Shampoo and Conditioner and Tressa Watercolors Shampoo in Liquid Copper First, I hate the feeling of the Davine's shampoo. It doesn't suds up the way I expect shampoo to suds and my hair gets tangled as I wash. But the Davine's conditioner makes up for everything! Seriously the best conditioner I have ever used. Tressa Watercolors Shampoo is wonderful and feels great in my hair. Now for color pay off - it is not a one use color option. The first few times i washed my hair i only used Davine's. My hair looked shiny and healthy but it didn't seem to have a change of color. It was about 4 washes in when I saw a slight difference. Then I decided to wash first with the Davine's shampoo, then the Tressa Watercolors, then the Davine's conditioner - this is a win! Most shampoos tell you to wash, rinse and repeat anyways so I just wash twice. I lather the shampoos for at least 2 minutes and leave the conditioner in for at least 5. I have tried skipping the Davine's shampoo but the color payoff isn't as good - I'm telling you, the three together are where it's at. I love my enhanced color, it looks natural and my hair feels great. And on days I don't have time to spend a ton of time washing and conditioning, I use my Aveda madder root shampoo to gently care for my new color.

I bought the Warm Spice, hoping it would add more of a light copper/red and strawberry tone to my pale slightly strawberry blonde hair color. The product looked exactly like it would do just that when I squeezed a tiny bit out on a q-tip. It looked red/orange. But, when I used it in in the shower on my hair, it lathered and rinsed out a deep yellow saffron color, without even the slightest hint of copper or red to it at all. My hair was a pale bleach blonde that I had recently dyed over with a light reddish blonde (loreal's 8RB to be exact) and it was nearly perfect for what I wanted. A light strawberry blonde, without any brown or auburn to it. But after one wash most of the strawberry/copper lowlights washed out. So, I wanted to add more light tones of true red and copper, so I purchased Warm Spice. I am a bit disapointed that Warm Spice only imparted gold/yellow tones to my hair. I may re-order Tressa in a different color, I want light red/copper blonde. I am really trying to avoid red hair care products that contain blue-based reds that have that purple/burgundy look that may turn my hair pinkish or purplish. I have worn that dark purple-red hair color in the past. While it was a rich color, Im totally over it now. I am really trying for the natural ginger blonde look these days. Overall this product shipped to me in great condition, and I really like the product in general. My hair feels very silky and shiny and conditioned... But it is a bright gold/saffron toned blonde now, with only the slightest hint of copper left over from the Loreal dye I recently used. Another review of this product said it turned her natural dirty blonde hair a strawberry/orange blonde, which was exactly the effect I was going for. And I bought this shade mainly based on that reviewers results. But I now have what I would call a bright golden blonde. Overall Warm spice is very pretty, but not exactly what I was going for. Love love love this shampoo. Will stain hands, tub, shower curtain, so do mist Lysol or cleanser containing a bleaching agent after use to prevent awful orange stains in your shower and shower curtain liner!! As for the product, have been using it 2 or 3 times a month the last two years and I adore it. So lucky artec stopped making their color depositing shampoo and I was forced into trying something new by this product is amazing and well worth ever penny and then some. One bottle will last you 3-6 months depending on hair length/ frequency. I don't find it necessary too often because the color deposited really does hold up through multiple washes, dries and styling sessions in my experiences. I shampoo normally with hot water to remove any buildup then smooth in a generous squeeze of this(don't overdo it or you will risk orange hair haha) from just before my roots to he ends. Work into a gentle lather throughout your head but don't scrub too much into your scalp bc it will stain and look pretty goofy. (To note: I have dirty blonde hair with golden blonde highlights throughout and prefer the natural look the warm spice color leaves me with.) Let the sudsy lather sit 5 minutes then I smooth a good conditioner directly onto my sudsy hair for a few more minutes. Rinse with the coolest water you can tolerate. I think the conditioner really seals the color in because after this one shower my hair is noticeably brighter healthier and just glowing with a beautiful auburn tint and my hair looks way better than any expensive trip to the salon. Can't top the compliments I receive on my hair. This is my secret weapon and I highly recommend this warm spice shade if you want just a touch of red without the commitment of "real dye" or even just to slowly build towards committing to strawberry blonde, light auburn or anything bordering the reds. Also a little trick I've learned if your cuticles and the skin under your nails is stained at all from any dyes, scrubbing a little baking soda with a nailbrush/toothbrush helps a lot a lot without drying it out the way nail polish remover or bleach will!!

I have never used a color depositing shampoo before, this was my first purchase after looking at what was available off of Amazon and reading and watching reviews. I have natural pitch black hair that I permanently dyed to a level 3-4 cherry wine color (basically red-purple that's a little bright as opposed to full on Ariel red) and I wanted to upkeep the color so it would not fade as much. I have to say I do believe this product has helped with fading, I shower at night and the day after I use this I always get compliments on how red my hair looks. I should add I also use a color depositing conditioner (Davine's Rouge) when I do not want to shampoo my hair which also helps with fading. To apply this product, I just take a palmful and lather it into half of my hair and then repeat on the other side, I also focus on my length since it fades more quickly than the roots and wash it out after 15+ minutes because I want to get as much pigment as possible -- I turn off my water and just play on my phone lol. The main con is that this is a little drying, however this does not advertise itelf as being a moisturizing shampoo. I co-wash regularly anyway or use a thick conditioner to bring hydration back to my hair every time I get my hair wet in the shower, so this is not a big deal to me. Another con is the price... it is expensive for how much you get and you can run through a lot quickly if you have long, thick hair. However I do think this product works very well compared to drugstore products that make similar claims. Tressa's website says that you'll see a big difference after three shampoos, but I personally saw them almost right away. Keep in mind I do leave this product in longer than instructed, but it still means that it's doing it's job!

This product did not work. I have a decent amount of grey hairs so I thought that this product would be perfect to use for a wedding, as it’s temporary. However it did not work at all. I did the process twice in an attempt to get the watercolor to take to my hair. I used about half of a bottle and it just did not work. I tried the recommended use as explained on the website, and followed the steps. It looked as though it was working until I rinsed it, as said. Great idea, poor efficacy.

I've tried a LOT of color depositing shampoos over the years, and I always come back to this one. I started using this years ago, but suddenly the consistency seemed to change; it was very thin & watery, so I began trying other brands. However, I was never very happy with any of them, so I thought I'd try this one again; and the price had gone down, which was a bonus! Thankfully, the formulation seems to have gone back to what it was--it's much thicker now and easier to use. I have natural Auburn hair which is fading as I get older. I do color my hair, but red dyes are notorious for not lasting long, so it helps to use a color-depositing shampoo in-between coloring. This shampoo adds a nice bit of color: Not too much, but enough to hide a lot of my fading color. After much experimentation, I found the 'Wet Brick' color works best for me -- it gives me warm red tones, rather than some of the other red colors that tend towards cool/burgandy type tones. I've also used the Warm Spice color, but by itself it isn't quite dark enough. I find it works best to mix that with a red color to get the best results. However, the Wet Brick color is perfect for me right now. Other brands I've tried just didn't work as well: The results were either WAY too dark/bright or gave me barely any color at all. Plus they were quite expensive as well. But the Watercolors line does well for me at a great price too.

When I first rated this product, I gave it a 5 star review because initially I loved it. After several months I’m returning to change it to a 3. Before I begin, I don’t want to say this is a problem everyone will have- I think it was Joe my own body handled it. This shampoo does a great job of depositing color, yes. It was bright, easy to do, and held well. However, it left my hair feeling dry and brittle overtime. I battled this by simply balancing out and getting a depositing conditioner that I’d alternate with this shampoo, and for a while it worked great. However, after a couple months I realized this shampoo seemed to cause pores on my scalp to clog. This left painful, pimple like sores on my scalp that were irritating. I genuinely thought I was getting acne on my scalp, until it finally clicked that it only happened when I washed my hair using this shampoo. To clarify- I did not use this more than maybe once a week (if not once every two weeks), left it in for the recommended time, and always thoroughly washed it out and shampooed with my typical shampoo after. I do not typically have sensitive skin; however, I am not saying this will be an experience for everyone. I just want to warn those who do have sensitive skin that this may not be the product for you! Not long term, anyways. I will not be purchasing this product again due to the side effects I had.

I’d say I’m 50/50 I feel like my copper is still fading but maybe this shampoo has slowed down the process how how much it’s faded. I also have blonde bangs and although I’ve not touched them with the copper shampoo it has deffo coloured my bangs to a peach colour.

I am very impressed with this product. It restored a lot of my copper color which is amazing since I'm still 2 weeks from my 6 week color appt. There was no staining ( take obvious cautions while using) and it lathers up so nicely. My hair is super soft and I have copper hair again until my next appointment. I'll definitely keep using after my appointment as well. It's pricey but no worse than salon products. My hair was bleached out first before I went copper so I'm sure that helps. Not sure if it would work as well on natural hair. I love it though!

I'm an aging redhead and my colour is fading to a dark blonde/light brown at the roots/new growth area. I bought this hoping to add a touch of ginger back to my hair. Instead, this did nothing for the majority of my hair except it turned any lighter blonde parts (like my ends) bright orange. Ah... Edited to add: It is VERY DRYING.

This shampoo has been great for maintaining my hair colour! But the packaging was not secure, some of the product was lost in the shipping bag and the consistency of the shampoo is very thin, almost like watered down so it's a bit tricky to use.
