Usefull and easy to use
Is the first time that I buy a stud finder and I'm very happy with this, I normally make holes on the wall with no idea what is behind it but with this device there is not risk to cut a cable or go through a pipe. actually I put a nail close to a cable before I had the stud finder and that could make a big mess.

Where to drill...Need to hang Pictures
The media could not be loaded. Got this Stud Finder as I wanted to hang some picture and was worries about where to drill holes.Arrived fast. Nicely packaged. Came with A Battery. Setup in 1 minute.Using it is abit tricky. So you turn it on, then select a mode, then you hold it up in the air and press and hold left side calibration button, wait for the bas on the screen to go. Then you can use it.It was able to detect metal, and solid objects behind a wall very accurately. It also has a feature to detect live current. But this feature does not work correctly. This feature is too sensitive and it tells you there is live current everywhere. I put it against any wall, it states there is current. I put it against a pot of greek yogurt, it states there is current there. So this feature cannot be trusted. My main concern was about pipes in the wall. But this tool helped me and gave me reassurance so I could hang my pictures.I would recommend this product but not the current detection feature. The other features are very accurate.

You get what you pay for...
Its ok product, I cant compare it to others as this is my first detector. The build quality isnt great, and it struggles to give you an exact reading, especially with studs and electric mode. For the money it will do for now but if you can afford something more expensive I would encourage you to spend more and get a household name brand. The positives is that its leightweight and easy to use and slides along the surface nicely. Just takes time to get an accurate reading.

This easy to use stud detector knows the difference between wood, metal and live mains.
The media could not be loaded. Place the detector against the wall to be scanned, Hold down the scan/calibrate button until calibration completes, shown by the fuel gauge bars counting down and a beep, move the detector across the wall evenly until you find what you are looking for. The fuel gauge bars will reappear and arrows point you to the centre of the beam, wire or pipe. If you are looking for a vertical item hold the detector upright, if looking for a horizontal one hold the detector horizontally, that way the centre indicator will work better.I like the way that his device works, it is very useful to be able to detect the wooden stud work in plasterboard walls which my old one could not do. You can also use this one to detect metal objects like screws nails pipes and so on. There is an indicator which shows if you have found a live wire and also a specific live wire mode which will not detect other metal objects, that can be useful to determine what you are dealing with.A word to the wise, the way that most light switches are wired means that the wires to them are NOT detected as live wires this is because live wires are detected by the magnetic field between the live and return wires, you will need to use metal mode to find wires to light switches in most houses.

JUNK & A POTENTIAL KILLER!
I'll start by saying that I fitted a new Duracell battery before trying out this device.IT IS USELESS AT FINDING LIVE CABLES! DO NOT RELY ON IT!As some other reviewers have complained, it either refuses to find live cables where you know there is one (switch, socket, light fitting etc) or it warns you a large area of wall is live!On modern 9mm plaster-board wall and ceiling: with careful calibration and persistence and tracing along the line of each stud 'detected', rather than just a spot check, it was moderately successful at tracing wooden studs and joists - but that's all it is any use for. It's slow and time-consuming requiring great care: the Echos has to be kept absolutely flat and tight against the wall surface as it's confused by slight surface irregularities such as a slight overlap in wallpaper, completely hopeless over textured wall-paper!Our house is over 300 years old and, after repeated extensions and updates over the years, has stone, brick, lath & plaster, modern plaster-board (but none foil-backed), modern plaster both lime and pink gypsum, thus providing quite a wide range of test environments.I have a 30+ year-old detector which can be relied on to find metal pipes & ducts and, though it's sometimes not very precise on the position of live cables, it does detect them reliably and keeps me several inches away from them; to reliably find the studs/joists behind lath and plaster it requires careful manual tuning. I had expected that the Echos would be a replacement that would be quicker and easier to use, particularly in finding the studs of lath & paster walls; a frustrating failure. Despite careful and repeated calibration, the 'Echos' Stud Detector wouldn't reliably detect studs and joists behind lath and plaster that my old detector did reliably trace.I'm sending it back as being, to say the least, not fit for the purpose. Totally out-classed by a 30+ year-old BRITISH device that's still going strong.

Stud Finder Electric Stud Detector
The media could not be loaded. Got a new house and wanted something easy on the pocket and at the same time that would work.Pros• Plenty of scanning modes to choose from depending on the situation• Detects various depth of wood, joist and metal studs. I tested all modes and so far has been very accurate• Nice and big LCD screen.• Fits easily on a palm (see photos)• Calibration takes about 5 seconds unlike the previous brand I owned which took about 1 min.Cons• Supplied battery didn’t last as long as I would have thought• Would be nice to have some sort of writing on the screen rather than symbols. You do have to refer to manual if you are not using it often and forget the symbol meaning
