I was so tired of my daughter bouncing her regular basketball in the house. We live in an apartment so it was just too loud for everyone, including the neighbors. Found this and honestly, I'm so glad I did. It's not totally silent, but it's really really quiet.. she can still practice her dribbling and I can actually hear myself think. It's a lifesaver. Just remember it's a foam ball, so it's not gonna feel exactly like a regular one.

This thing is awesome This basketball is pretty sick for indoor practice. My son can dribble in his room now and it's not super loud like a regular ball. It's got a good bounce too, honestly surprised. Would definitely recommend for anyone with noisy kids.

It is a basketball made from a dense sponge so it has some weight and bounce to it. It bounces fine on hard wood, not quite as much as a regular basketball but good enough to practice dribbling indoors. To my surprise, it bounces decently well on carpet too. The main reason you would buy this is for the quieter sound and vibration. You still hear a ‘puff’ sound when dribbling but it is significantly quieter than a regular basketball. Also, it is softer on the floor so you don’t have to worry about ruining your flooring or pounding on your downstairs neighbor. What it is not for is outdoor use. You will tear it apart easily. So will a dog. Water will probably ruin it too as it is a sponge. I would not use it for shooting practice either. So if you are limited in practice space and want to practice dribbling indoors when the weather outside prevents you, using this will keep other members of the household happier than listening to a real ball. They might not even notice it if you were a couple rooms away. I would probably buy it again if I didn’t have one so definitely recommend.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I picked this particular ball because it came fully shaped and ready to use. My basketball-fanatic kids played a lot with the ball indoors and my ears were thankful. After a few months though all ball markings disappeared and the surface became rougher. These days it rests mostly unused. But we all enjoyed the meantime.

This silent basketball is seriously amazing. My son has been using it for a week straight in his room and it's quiet enough that I can actually focus on my work. The bounce is pretty decent for a foam ball and it feels good to dribble. He loves it and so do I. I mean, what's not to like? Would recomend it.

I got this ball because I rent part of a house and still want to practice whenever I have free time. It’s been great for that, and most importantly, it doesn’t bother my roommate or make a lot of noise. Obviously it’s not the same as a real basketball, but for practicing handles and staying active indoors, it does the job really well.

The foam basketball does not bounce. To get the ball to bounce at even 70% height you have to use a substantial amount of force with each dribble. It is not like playing with a regular basketball at that point, it is legitimately like throwing a ball full force at the ground every time for it to even make it back to your palm. And when you are using that much force on the ball just to make it bounce poorly, physics dictates that unless there’s been a breakthrough in new materials with magical sound properties, there is going to cause an equally forceful sound. Basically when it bounces as high as a basketball, it was making close to or as much noise as a regular basketball. If you are looking for a replacement for a basketball that dribbles softly, this is not the product for you. If you want a rough foam ball that has no coating and a paint job to look like a basketball, this is the product for you.
